Today I am thrilled to share a beautiful Aircraft inspired Sheffield Wedding at the Crowne Plaza Royal Victoria Hotel in Sheffield.
The couple are Jem and Russ, both nurses and NHS heroes, and from battling Storm Jorge, to big green balloons, to cool aircraft inspired decor, lots of hilarity and laughter, a big dollop of AC DC and an awesome Queenesque performance, their wedding was extraordinary.

She says of the couples day…
Whenever I’m shooting up north I always feel at home. Yorkshire folks are so warm and welcoming, and walking into the hotel room where Jem was getting suited and booted with her mum, gran and friends felt like walking into a room full of my own family.
Jem had an incredible personal bridal style with buzzed silver hair, plus stockings with hearts up the back, leopard print studded flats and her leopard print jacket giving her look a bit of a rockstar edge.
There are so many lovely stand-out moments from the couples day.
The ceremony was wonderful with lots of smiles and laughter with Jem walking in in to Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, and back out to Highway to Hell by AC/DC.
Their approach to group shots and couples portraits was super chilled with a “have a chat and a giggle” kind of vibe which was just them.
We’d go through something lovely and romantic without it looking too soppy and intimate, and then they’d start cantering around like horses!
The day was capped off with some lovely speeches, and a killer first dance lip sync to It’s a Kinda Magic by Queen.
Bride Jem says of the couples aircraft inspired Sheffield Wedding…
How did you meet?
We met through my mum actually. Russ and Dawn (my mum) work for the same specialist team.
My mums a sister who runs the department, and Russ is a specialist nurse consultant there too.
Russ originally met me when he was invited to Dawn’s surprise 50th birthday party!
Tell us about the Proposal…
It wasn’t epically romantic.
It was a conversation in the kitchen one night as I cooked dinner.
Tell us about your wedding planning journey…
We were really lucky. There were no massive disasters. It was all really quite smooth sailing because we did it all together.
No massive arguments about anything. We knew what we didn’t want, and it all rolled from there.
We actually became very suspicious the week of the wedding that we had missed something major!
Any special touches/DIY?
We made all our own model aircraft for the table centres ourselves. They looked amazing on the day. I hand painted the cake as well.
We made all our own place markers using little easels we picked up from a wholesaler.
What was the theme /colour palette of your Big Day?
We went for greens, silver grey with a bit of oxblood, copper and rose gold thrown in for good measure. It sounds tacky on paper but it looked bangin’!
What was the best bit of your day?
All of it.. it was bloody epic. Although, all the wedding guests seem to agree that the first dance was the best bit.
We did a cover of Queen’s “ A Kind of Magic” with me dressed as Freddie Mercury and Russ dressed as Brian May with props and everything!
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
Do it your own way. We didn’t want formality or fuss, and we got exactly that.
