Today I am excited to share this amazing geek meets chic Doctor Who Wedding in Pasadena, California that transcends all time and space.
You don’t have to be a fan of the show to love the styling but Whovians will adore the incredible attention to detail.
We adore Jodies Doctor in our house and this wedding just blows my sci-fi loving mind.
Images were captured by Mary Costa Photography with concept by Bride and Planner Fandom Affairs.
Couple Debbie and Zack wanted to capture the essence of their love and recognise Doctor Who for bringing them together.
Every last detail was carefully planned to transcend space and time as they begun their journey as the perfect companions.
Debbie is the planning genius behind events business Fandom Affairs, a company known for bringing geek chic to the fore, so nothing too fantastical or sci fi is off limits for her clients, or for bringing her vision for her own day to glorious life.
To bring an insight into the day ahead the invitation suite by Faith into Art featured a laser cut gate fold of the Tardis with the watercolour detail of the motif personalised to spell the couples name in Gallifreyan,
For attire Debbie wore a Stella York gown from Lila Bridals, Badgley Mischka flats and a stunning celestial hairpiece from GGs Pin Up Couture.
The Groom was stylish in a tuxedo from The Black Tux accessorised by some funky red Converse shoes.
The ceremony space featured a large clock backdrop by Paper Moon Shoppe with Gallifreyan symbols painted inside, almost feeling reminiscent to the opening credits of the show.
Throughout the ceremony the couple chose to “time-travel” to different lands that meant something to them including Disneyland where they often had dates, and Hogwarts where the groom proposed.
Even their rings, placed in a Tardis ring box, “travelled through time and space” and ended up hidden underneath one of the seats in the audience.
Their guests jumped at the chance to see if their seat contained the rings!
Topping off the Doctor Who splendour was their officiant Alan Katz from Great Officiants dressed as Tom Baker’s 4th Doctor showcasing his famous multi-coloured scarf, and a replica of River Song’s journal for their vows.
During cocktail hour guests were welcomed inside the venue where a full size Tardis awaited them.
Inside the police call box was a phone just like the show, except this phone had a pre-recorded message from the bride and groom
The phone acted as an audio guest book, where guests could leave messages after the tone for the happy couple!
Guests could find their seats at the pocket watch escort card display. The Doctor’s pocket watch in the show holds special meaning and I love that the planner/bride chose to interpret this through the escort cards.
The reception room was decorated with an elegant celestial theme.
Their centrepieces featured geometric terrariums and starburst spheres giving the feeling of stars and distant constellations.
The bride and groom’s chairs were decorated with signs that said “Her Doctor” and “His Companion” in beautiful galaxy painted backdrops.
These galaxy backdrops with gold calligraphy are made by Calligraphy Nerd. They are featured throughout the wedding from the chair signs, to the table numbers, to the welcome sign, giving the wedding a seamless design.
And no Doctor Who wedding would be complete without a galaxy themed cake made by Sweet Art Bake Shop!
Their “Starry Night” signature cocktail is inspired by the episode Vincent and the Doctor.
The ingredients include a drop of activated charcoal and edible glitter. Once combined the drink swirled into an impressionistic night sky like Van Gogh’s painting.
This elegant and celestial Doctor Who wedding is filled with so many carefully planned out details.
We hope every alien species out there enjoys it as much as we humans do. Scroll through for more geek-chic goodness!
Allons-y!
