Today I am excited to share this gorgeous autumnal handcrafted village hall Wedding in Yorkshire.
Images were captured by the team at Colin Murdoch Studio.
The Colin Murdoch Studio are Colin and Heather, a husband and wife photography team.
Working closely together, they take photographs that tell the story of your wedding day in an unobtrusive, natural style that captures moments as they happen, as well as creating beautiful, natural portraits of the two of you to treasure in the years to come.
Based in Skipton, North Yorkshire they’re well placed to cover weddings throughout Yorkshire and Lancashire but they also happily photograph weddings throughout the UK – all you have to do is ask.
They say of the couple and their day…
“Stephanie and Rob found us online and we met up with them for a consultation before they booked with us.”
“We always love to meet couples before they book; having a rapport and connection with our couples is really important to us, especially when we’ll be spending so much time around each other on the wedding day.”
“We loved the sound of Stephanie and Rob’s plans.”
“They’re a talented and creative couple so we knew that their venue was going to look amazing and they both appreciated our natural, documentary style of photography.”
“Rob had a keen eye for photography and had even brought along a few shots of himself at a friend’s wedding that he liked, and we could see that our style would be a great fit for them so we were really pleased when they booked us!”
“Stephanie and Rob did the ‘legal bit’ a few days before their Halloween wedding date, so that on the actual day they could have a blessing and read personal vows to each other in front of their friends and family.”
“It was really quite lovely!”
“As predicted, the venue was beautifully decorated.”
“Rob and Stephanie did an amazing job with everything and the colours were just perfect for an autumn wedding; lots of bright orange, red, yellow and berry hues.”
“We love colourful weddings, especially in the autumn and winter months when things can sometimes be a little dreary outside, and everything looked just perfect.”
“We loved the relaxed vibe of the day.”
“The groomsmen were invited to wear their own clothes which were topped off with their own looky-likey Lego man buttonholes!”
“They all looked great and it just goes to show that you don’t have to wear a traditional suit if you don’t want to; do things your own way and it’ll make your day all the more special!”
I hand over to gorgeous Bride Stephanie…
How did you meet?
“We met on a dating website in 2011.”
Tell us about the Engagement
“We got engaged 3 years later in October 2014.”
“Rob proposed on a romantic country walk in the Yorkshire Dales.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“I (Steph) am from the Yorkshire Dales and it was important to me to get married back home.”
“We knew we wanted a wedding which was a bit different by being relaxed and creative.”
“We both have a design background, with Rob being a Graphic Designer and I used to be an Interior Designer, so we were keen to do as much of the decorations and wedding stationery ourselves.”
“We booked the wedding in May, which gave us 5 months to get everything sorted.”
“As we were having our blessing/reception on Halloween we wanted to have an autumnal feel with a few hints of Halloween thrown in.”
“Along with our helpful family members we made homemade bunting, origami decorations, centre pieces, pumpkin themed wedding favours, hand carved pumpkins, trick or treat table, bar signs, flower arrangements etc.”
“It was hard work and took a lot of hours of preparation but was worth every effort as we had such a great day and it turned out just the way we wanted it.”
When did you get married?
“Our wedding consisted of two parts.”
We currently live in Wakefield and we offically got married on Saturday 24th October 2015 at the Wakefield Registry office with our immediate family present.”
“Our second part took place on the following Saturday, on 31st October at Cracoe Village Hall where we had a blessing and wedding reception with all our family and friends.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“The blessing – a very dear friend of ours lead the blessing and did such a fantastic job.”
“Rob and I then read some personalised promises to each other and it was a really special moment in our day.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Keep the day relaxed. Don’t be scared of putting your own stamp on things.”
“We found it easy to source what we needed to give our wedding a personalised edge from local companies.”
“Weddings don’t need to cost a fortune to be different.”
“Also a cheap bar goes down very well with guests, and don’t underestimate how much Prosecco your guests are going to drink.”
