Today I am thrilled to share this gorgeous autumnal Yorkshire Wedding with a woodland animal theme and accents of navy, burgundy and blush pink.
Images were captured by Photography by Kathryn.
Kathryn Widdowson is a wedding photographer based near Skipton, North Yorkshire.
She likes to describe her style of wedding photography as having minimum posing, minimum fuss enabling her couples to have maximum enjoyment of their wedding day!
She loves to get to know her couples and really help them feel at ease with her as their wedding photographer. And dogs at weddings are always welcome additions as far as this photographer is concerned!
She says of the couple and their day…
My couple Laura and Patrick found me via Instagram and our mutual love of dogs! I was just delighted to be asked to capture their wedding day that included their Springer Spaniel, Poppy – when I too have a Springer Spaniel called Poppy. It felt like it was a match meant to be!
Theirs was a beautifully relaxed Yorkshire wedding day in the countryside. Laura and Patrick were surrounded by their closest friends and family and this made for a really intimate and special occasion.
Poppy was a big part of the day as their ring bearer and Best Dog and dare I say she did manage to steal the show a little!
But this made for some truly magical pictures in the atmospheric setting of The Priests House Chapel and around the ruins of Barden Tower. I would sum up their day as historical and magical!
I hand over to beautiful Bride Laura….
How did you meet?
We met on Tinder.
It showed we had mutual running friends, as we both love being outdoors, especially in the hills and mountains.
Tell us about the Proposal…
We walked up to Col du Chioula in the Pyrenees, after looking at the view and taking some photos,
started to walk off as I was getting cold, but Patrick called me back and proposed.
When we got back to where we were staying, we had some champagne given to us from our hosts.
Tell us about your wedding planning journey…
I was fortunate to be planning at the same time as my best friend and Bridesmaid Zoe, whose wedding was two weeks later, so we bounced ideas off each other.
We had completely different styles of weddings, but it was great to be going through the same decision making process.
Any special touches/DIY?
Patrick cut the wooden discs and did pyrography writing for the place names, which most of the guests took home.
What was the theme /colour palette of your Big Day?
Navy, burgundy and blush pink – the autumnal and woodland animals theme tying in with our love of outdoors and nature.
What was the best bit of your day?
After biblical rain in the morning, we were blessed with sunshine from our guests arriving until the evening so we were all able to enjoy the grounds.
Being able to have my dog as ring bearer was another highlight!
Is there anything you would do differently?
Patrick wishes we had a video of me walking down the aisle, but I think this is just because he wants to hear Star Wars on piano again.
We compromised as I wanted a pianist, but he got to pick the music, so it was the Throne Room from Star Wars.. A New Hope!
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
Just to enjoy the day and not worry, put your trust in the venue and photography to give lasting memories.
