An elegant Ayrshire Wedding at Trump Turnberry with pretty white, cream and blue accents

Today I am thrilled to share an elegant Ayrshire Wedding at Trump Turnberry with  pretty white, cream and blue accents.

Images were captured by The Gibsons Photography.

The Gibsons are Chantal and Scott, husband & wife photographers based in Glasgow but who are up for an adventure and love to travel.

They specialise in telling your story in natural settings in the great outdoors, green spaces and enjoying the seasons with relaxed, colourful, light, bright and fun wedding photography.

I hand over to gorgeous Bride Olivia to share the couples love story, and tells about their elegant Ayrshire Wedding…

How did you meet?

We met in the romantic setting of Club de Mar nightclub in Ayr.

Kieron followed me on twitter and recognised me strutting my stuff on the dancefloor so came over to introduce himself.

After seeing my moves, he obviously knew I was the one for him and the rest is history.

Since then, we have completed our degrees together, ventured into new careers, travelled as much as possible and bought our 1st home for our little dog Bramble to enjoy.

Tell us about the Proposal…

Kieron had planned the proposal (after 5 years together) at Glencoe House, inviting my mum and dad for a long weekend.

Once we arrived, we went a walk round the icy lochan when I stopped to take a picture of the snowy landscape to turn around and find Kieron down on one knee on the ice. I of course said YES!

We then continued our celebrations all weekend in the fabulous Glencoe House surrounded by snow.

Tell us about your wedding planning journey…

A few weeks after the proposal I had emailed a few dream venues but knew my heart was set on the stunning Trump Turnberry.

After spending most of our special occasions there as a couple and as a family as well as visiting since I was young, there couldn’t have been a more suitable yet meaningful choice for our wedding day.

I wanted a venue that was light and bright with lots of space as well as a spa to relax at the day after the wedding, so it fitted the description perfectly.

When we went to view the different rooms, my mum said I needed to get married in the Ballroom so I daren’t disagree!

We were also lucky enough to have pre-wedding dinner and drinks in the Ailsa Craig Suite the night before with around 45 of our guests which set the celebrations off nicely.

Any special touches/DIY?

My mum made what felt like 1 million pieces of tablet for the favours which I am sure she thoroughly enjoyed.

We were also able to get our hands on 70 mini Molton Brown bags for the girls Molton Brown favours which made the tables look even better.

Turnberry were kind enough to upgrade our room for the 3 nights to make us feel even more special.

The amazing balloons Kieron arranged from Harper Events looked spectacular in the Tom Watson Suite.

What was the theme / colour palette of your Big Day?

I knew I wanted a lot of greenery along with whites/creams for the flowers and neutral bridesmaid dresses due to the colour scheme of Turnberry.

I also liked the navy kilts to tie in with the blues of the ballroom along with some gold detailing on the table names etc.

Did Covid have any impact on your Wedding Planning?

Yes! We were meant to get married on 6th March 2021 but I think you were only allowed 5 people including yourself at that time but thankfully we were able to change dates very easily thanks to Turnberry.

We were possibly going to change to August 2021 but it still looked a bit ropey COVID wise so we are glad to have moved to March 2022

. We had just sent out the previous save the dates just before the first lockdown which was slightly annoying but other than that it wasn’t too bad.

Turnberry were very accommodating and helpful throughout.

Some of our guests from overseas were unable to attend due to COVID which was a shame but we will get to celebrate with them soon.

What was the best bit of your day?

Every single minute of it but probably walking down the aisle and just the full ceremony.

Is there anything you would do differently?

Just relax more  and be prepared with things such as invites, perfume, jewellery for pictures as I was flapping about frantically in the morning.

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

Enjoy every minute of it and take it all in. I would also say if you are stressing in the morning go somewhere quiet and just enjoy the silence for a minute as I was getting stressed trying to decide things and answer 100 questions.

Have a wee rehearsal so the main party know where to sit and stand and the speed they should walk down the aisle

. Make sure you choose great suppliers that add to your day! We felt so at ease and relaxed on the day due to the suppliers being so good at their jobs and being so friendly throughout the planning, prepping and wedding day itself.
