Today I am thrilled to share this elegant intimate Edinburgh Wedding at Norton House Hotel with pretty forest green detail.
Laura and Peter planned an intimate, meaningful and emotional celebration together with their closest family and friends..
Images were captured by Karol Makula Photography.

I hand over to beautiful Bride Laura to tell us the couples love story and about their intimate Edinburgh Wedding…
How did you meet?
We met at work, actually! Boring, I know.
We worked together for a few years and always had good banter, but there had never been a romantic spark (for obvious reasons…!).
I went through a period of major emotional stress, and Peter was really there for me through it all.
We got closer and eventually became a couple.
Tell us about the Proposal…
I don’t know whether Peter would admit it, but I bent his arm, definitely!
We had talked about getting married and there had been mentions of a ring, but nothing ever came of it.
I finally told him that we were going into town to look at rings, and we ended up designing my engagement ring together.
It worked out perfectly, as I got something I absolutely adore and we each got to choose elements that make it unique to us!
Tell us about your wedding planning journey…
We bought the ring in June, and were married the following February.
I didn’t start properly planning, however, until probably the end of October…mad, I know!
I didn’t want a long engagement, as I wanted to start trying for a family quickly.
We couldn’t decide whether we wanted to elope, have a really intimate Edinburgh wedding with just immediate family, or just go for a big blowout.
I was searching websites and came across Norton House Hotel’s website, where they had wedding package offers and had a list of dates that they had available.
One of those dates was the 15th of February, and after a discussion with Peter, we emailed to ask for a look around.
My sister and best friend came along too and we all agreed it was a lovely venue – the bonus being for us was that the ceremony, meal and accommodation would happen all in one place.
We booked the venue for 30 guests, which was perfect for us as we were able to afford to pay for everyone’s accommodation.
Once we signed the contract, it was a mad rush to organise all the extras! All I can say is, thank goodness for amazing bridesmaids!
I managed to find some really good deals, and although there were definitely some moments of stress, everything turned out wonderfully.
Any special touches?
I asked everyone to save up jars and bought twine to wrap round them for table decorations; they looked gorgeous with the candles lit.
We also designed our own wedding invitations and I made an album for us to stick Polaroid photos and messages from guests in.
I made the top tier of the wedding cake for us to cut too, and to add to that we just bought a bunch of Krispy Kreme donuts – best decision ever!
What was the theme /colour palette of your Big Day?
We chose a dark/forest green as our main colour. Everything else was white, as we liked the crisp clean look.
What was the best bit of your day?
That’s such a difficult question to answer! I think knowing how much everyone enjoyed themselves made it extra special!
Is there anything you would do differently?
We planned on having a first look photo shoot before the ceremony, but it didn’t quite work out how we had envisioned.
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
Don’t get wrapped up worrying about what other people think/might think about your wedding day – yours are the only opinions that matter!
