Today I am thrilled to share the elegant Military Wedding of Brad and Avril on a lovely day in May at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Images of the day were captured by Rob Grimes Photography.
Rob shares his recollections of a stunning day,
“I had the pleasure of knowing Brad from a previous tour to Iraq in 2006 when we served together during a 6 month deployment out on operations in Basra.”
“We kept in touch via Facebook over the years and when Brad asked me if I was free to photograph his wedding to his fiancee Avril on the 25th May with the location to be the stunning backdrop of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, it was an offer I couldn’t resist.”
“I knew the location of the Royal Military Academy myself from having been able to visit on a number of occasions during my own service in the Armed Forces, the academy is where every serving British Officer starts and finishes their officer training.”
“The location itself is simply breathtaking, the feel and buzz as you are able to walk around the venue with recruits still going about their training daily is like a step back in history, with the buildings engrained in Military history dating back to when records, oil paintings of famous generals, memorabilia from wars and conflicts of past glories were collected for display.”
“It is such a stunning location especially befitting for a Captain of the British Army to marry his bride to be.”
“Brad is still a serving officer in the British Army and is currently a Captain in the Duke of Lancaster regiment, but not only is he an officer in the Infantry, he’s also a good friend and now a past client and so is a privilege on many fronts for me.”
“The day started with the usual girls meeting at a nearby hotel near Camberley for the bridal preparations and during this wedding I was accompanied by my good friends and photographers Tracey Barrow and Lel Hurst, who superbly captured the drama and fun of the girls enjoying the bridal preparations.”
“I was away with Brad and the boys inside the barracks as we joked and laughed about old times together and they allowed me to capture the fun with a few drinks thrown in, of the soldiers dressing themselves in the ceremonial blues for Brad’s big day.”
“The ceremony was inside the barracks in the stunning and steeped with military history of the Academy Chapel, with the ceremony in full flow it was back to the Old College Steps for the big group photo and then a chance to grab Brad & Avril so portraits of the newly wedded bride & groom.”
“The reception was held in the stunning building of the Former Army Staff College which again is enriched with military history from years gone by, everything from the bouquet toss, speeches and meals through the first dance and after party was held in the Staff College.”
“It was truly a fun military wedding day for everyone to enjoy in the pomp and glamour of men in uniform.”
“I can’t thank Brad and Avril who are currently living on an overseas posting to Cyprus enough for allowing me the opportunity to have been there for them and capture their stunning military wedding and I wish them years of love to come wherever the Army send them next.”
Thanks so much to Rob for allowing me to share such a stunning Military Wedding.
The military colours just flow so beautifully through this Big Day with striking red, and white.
Such a beautiful Bride and who doesn’t love a man in uniform.
