To kick off the week I am thrilled to share the very elegant and beautiful Australian Farm Wedding of Dylan and Alisa.
Their Big Day was held at Chapel Farm, in the Swan Valley in Western Australia.
The Venue is uniquely versatile and exudes charm and character.
Images of the day were captured by the fabulous Jason Tey.
For anyone who saw their Holi Paint Engagement Shoot, you knew the Wedding would be special.
Jason Tey is a Photographer based in Perth, Australia.
He has always loved Art, and would visit galleries and museums to see art through the ages.
He studied Art History and Music in high school and did fine art (Oil Painting) as one of his TEE subjects.
In university, he chose to study Engineering where he left all the Art and Music behind and in the last three years, but found photography as a foray back into that world as well as a creative outlet.
But of all the things he could shoot, he is primarily interested in people.
He loves the mix of emotion and storytelling so that’s what you’ will see in his work.
Jason says of the couples gorgeous Farm Wedding…
“Dylan and Alisa’s wedding was no doubt a beautiful one…. I managed to produce some of my favourite images of the year at one of my favourite venues.”
“When couples tell me they’re getting married at Chapel Farm, I always tell them to make sure they get ready at the Love Shack (now called Bush Shack) because the lighting is just magic and when you look through these images you’ll see why.”
“A highlight of the day was the couple walking down the aisle to God is Able by Hillsong.”
“Following the ceremony guests enjoyed sweet cold treats from La Paleta, while the Bridal Party went to Bells Rapids for some photographs.”
“Each guest was taken to their seats by a homemade stand that held their names, with each name then replaced with a polaroid photo taken on the night.”
“Each guest had a potted succulent as a favour.”
“Instead of Wedding Cake the couple had an amazing Lemon Meringue pie.”
“And to kick off the evening, Alisa and Dylan chose Blooms by the Paper Kites for the first dance.”
I now hand over to Alisa to share her recollections of her beautiful day…
How did you meet?
“I was good friends with Dylan’s older brother, Rhys, and my sister, Zoe and I were having an Australia Day BBQ at our house and he asked if his brother (Dylan) could come too.”
“We didn’t really talk much until I heard him and Rhys giggling in my room and found them spraying my perfume and saying that they thought it smelt like granny perfume.”
When did you get engaged?
“We got engaged on 6th February 2013 at our favourite place and where he first told me he loved me – South Beach, South Fremantle.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“Our wedding plans started off really slow because we didn’t know what kind of wedding we wanted.”
“We eventually set a date and found the perfect venue for us, then planned everything else around that.”
“We decided on a few ‘must-have’ things that made us happy, like ice-cream after the ceremony, tea towels for our invites, handmade bow-ties for the groomsmen and a lemon meringue pie for our cake.”
“Everything else just seemed to fall into place.”
When did you get married?
“We were married on the 22nd February 2014.”
What was the best bit of your day?
Alisa – “Being with our bridesmaids and groomsmen while we took our photos.”
Dylan – “I really enjoyed mucking around with my new wife and our bridal party while we were having the photos done, and our first dance.”
“Oh, and the Bunning’s sausage sizzle with the boys before the ceremony.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Don’t stress about it! It is meant to be a fun and exciting time.”
“Whenever I found myself getting stressed I would just walk away and come back to it later when I was in a better mood.”
“And only choose things (and people!!!) that YOU want to be there – it’s your day, not everyone else’s.”
“Dylan and I made a lot of decisions because it was something that WE enjoyed and ended up with a day that everyone loved because it reflected our personalities and relationship.”
Whats not to love! From the rustic laid back vibe to the day to the beautiful mind green hues of the Bridesmaid gowns.
An incredible day filled with love and creativity, and its great how the couple have a Lemon Meringue Pie for their Wedding Cake.
Their unique spin to the day, making it totally them…
