An exquisite intimate Cotswold Barn Wedding with pretty soft pink detail

Today I am excited to share this exquisite intimate Cotswold Barn Wedding with pretty soft blush pink detail.

In spite of a whole raft of impediments from their travel agent going bust and cancelling their Cypriot wedding, to Covid culling the numbers of their dream day; Lucy and Chris did not let anything get in the way of saying I Do at Lapstone Barn.

Images were captured by Kate Hollingsworth Photography.

Kate is a Wedding and family photographer based in Sutton Coldfield and Solva, Pembrokeshire

She enjoys photographing families in the familiar surroundings of their own homes.

She also photographs special occasions from weddings to parties, trying to use only natural light in creating pictures to treasure.

Beautiful Bride Lucy says of their couples love story, and their stunning Cotswold Barn Wedding…

How did you meet?

Chris was actually one of my brother’s best friends and they grew up together in secondary school.

Chris decided to follow me on social media and after a few months, we started to message quite a lot and well let’s say… we hit it off straightaway and the rest was history!

Tell us about the Proposal…

I remember being at work and Chris had messaged me to say he’d decided to book us a trip away to Venice.

On our third day into the trip, Chris proposed late in the evening by our beautiful water side hotel.

Funny story.. he had actually planned to propose on the gondola we hired earlier in the day but left the ring in the hotel room!

It was magical nonetheless.

Did you have a particular theme or colour palette for your wedding day.

We always wanted to go with the blush pink and white colour palette with a very natural blossom tree/meadow type theme running through the decor to bring that extra magic.

How did Covid impact on your wedding planning?

Covid hit us hard in wedding planning!

Originally we were due to marry in Cyprus at a beautiful beachside hotel location on 13th May 2020.

We quickly realised when the first national lockdown happened that this was not going to happen.

We didn’t want to give up on a 2020 wedding so decided to take our chances and rebook for a UK wedding in October.

Lapstone barn had always been my dream venue so as soon as Cyprus was cancelled, Chris knew that it was THE place for our Cotswold Barn Wedding.

Luckily they were amazing and available!

I knew wedding planning would be stressful, but I think I underestimated the uncertainty each day whether it would’ve gone ahead.

However, it all works out in the end & we couldn’t have done it without the incredible reassurances from the Venue team.

What was your favourite moments of the day?

Oooh there are so many!

My brother walking me down the aisle was definitely a moment I will treasure forever.

We also loved having our friends and family together and just watching everyone relax and it felt like even more of a privilege for us to be celebrating together.

Our most favourite moment was the sparkler exit though I think!

My brother also got engaged the evening of our wedding to his beautiful fiancé which rounded the whole day off perfectly and we all can’t wait for another wedding!

Is there any advice you would couples getting married?

If I could have gone back in time pre-pandemic then I would’ve definitely told myself that small, intimate weddings should be strongly considered!

It was incredibly beautiful and emotional and everything we wanted from our wedding day and a moment that we’ll treasure forever.

Love doesn’t have to be cancelled and love will always win.

Take a moment on the day to stand back with your new husband or wife to look at your guests and soak in the fabulous moments and atmosphere around you!
