Today I am delighted to share this exquisite Lochside House Wedding with a palette of Tiffany Blue and handcrafted special touches.
Images of the days were captured by Gary Bonar Photography.
Gary Bonar is a Professional Wedding, Portrait and Commercial Photographer working throughout the U.K, and based in the Glasgow area.
He says of the day….
“Samantha & Alex were married at Lochside House which by the way is my new favourite wedding venue.”
“The weather was kind and spirits were unbelievably high.”
“Samantha and the bridesmaids were in great form all morning and we managed to get some fantastic images throughout the day.”
I hand over to beautiful Bride Samantha to share the couples story….
How did you meet?
“We met through mutual friends online, in the days that Myspace was cool!”
“After speaking for about a month on MSN, (retro!) I invited Alex to my sixteenth birthday party and that’s the first time we officially met “in real life”.
“We shared our first kiss that night (Alex was wearing my little sister’s pink hairband and told me I tasted like cider) and have been practically inseparable since.”
When did you get engaged?
“We got engaged on our fifth anniversary, 3rd of August 2011.”
“We had taken a trip to Ayr, where we spent a lot of time whilst dating.”
“We drove to the top of a place called the Carrick Hills, with beautiful views of the town and shoreline. It sounds pretty romantic (and it would have been) if not for the cows roaming around freely everywhere!”
“Alex got down on one knee, and I accepted, telling him “quick, get up before the cows eat us!”.
“Anyone who knows us will tell you that our engagement story reflects us perfectly!”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“We booked our wedding at Lochside just over two years in advance.”
“We had toyed with the idea of getting married abroad – however after seeing the venue and the scenery surrounding it, we were both completely blown away and booked it immediately.”
“I was very organised and booked most of our suppliers well in advance.
We had a clear vision of what we wanted for our wedding, and I’m a bit of an organised control freak!”
“As our wedding was around Easter, I wanted a neutral palette of colours that complimented each other.”
I didn’t want to go for the typical pastel colour mixture, so decided on an elegant but still spring palette of pastel blue/green and platinum.”
“We had a lot of drama along the way (don’t all weddings?) but everything was meticulously planned.”
“I love all the little details involved in weddings, most of which I lovingly handcrafted to add special little touches to the day.”
“Having all of our nieces involved was important, and we had four of them act as flower girls.”
“We had quite a large wedding party, of four bridesmaids, four flower girls, two ushers and Alex’s best man, Ewan.”
“This meant we had lots of hands to help! Our bridal party really helped to make our day, and we’ll be forever thankful to them.”
“Alex was really involved in helping me to plan the day and make decisions, which I appreciated.”
“He was also there to put the foot down when I was considering pretty ridiculous (but beautiful!) decor items.”
“That’s what a marriage is all about, right? Compromise!”
“All of our suppliers were amazing in helping to realise our vision and thanks to them, the wedding looked and ran exactly how we wanted it to.”
“A special thanks should go to all of the staff at Lochside House Hotel, especially Laura, who’s expertise made sure our day ran without any problems.”
When did you get married?
“We were married on the 17th of April 2014.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“I had lots of highlights, one from the morning was when Gary (our photographer) started singing along to “Let It Go” from Frozen with my Goddaughter Codie.”
“It was a fantastic moment that really broke the ice and made everyone laugh. He was fantastic.”
“The best part of the day was walking down the aisle to see Alex.”
“I hadn’t seen him in about a day and a half but it felt like forever!”
“He had tears brimming in his eyes, and his wee jaw was quivering.”
“He looked so nervous but as soon as we started saying our vows everything stopped, almost as if it was in slow motion! It was a beautiful moment.”
“I also loved the speeches – they were amazing! I was so proud of all of the guys. Alex’s was so touching and I’m sure there were a few tears shed.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“The best advice I was given and would give is to do exactly what you want.”
“Don’t let anyone else influence you to do something that isn’t exactly what you and your husband to be want to do.”
“Invite people to be part of your wedding party who you can rely on.”
“Although it’s great to put on a gorgeous dress or a kilt to act as part of a wedding party, they are there to help and support you meaning it has to be people you can rely on.”
“Hire a great photographer! Our pictures have completely blown us away and are something that you can look back on forever.”
“You should take a moment after you’re married to just be together and appreciate each other.”
“After our meal, Alex and I went upstairs to sit and speak to one another for around 15 minutes. It’s nice to take a breather and relax together as husband and wife.”
Thank you so much to Gary for sharing this stunning Lochside House Wedding.
I love the elegant colour palette just perfect for spring, and perfectly blended with the vibrant blue in the Kilts.
Also really love the table names with all our favourite famous couples, an inspired choice.
Its also really random but quite nice that Alex and Samantha met online and their meeting Anniversary is August 3rd, just like myself and the Mr!
A beautiful Big Day spectacularly captured.
