Today I am thrilled to share this incredible Comic Book theme Wedding held at Charlotte House on Easter Sunday.
Images of the day were captured by Courtney Louise Photography.
Courtney Louise Photography is a Cotswolds based wedding photographer covering the whole of the UK.
She loves capturing the day in a non obtrusive way, giving couples a true record of the day to treasure forever.
Courtney says of the couple…
“Cat & gary found me online, so the first I heard from them was receiving a very excited email.”
“Their wedding day was fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of it.”
“There were so many little details which were a pleasure to photograph.”
“All the effort and thought behind the style really shone through and it was clear everyone had a brilliant day.”
I spoke to beautiful Bride Cat…
How did you meet?
“We met through a mutual friend and got talking on a night out – I wouldn’t let him go home until he gave me his number!”
When did you get engaged?
“Gary took me on a surprise trip to Clontarf, Dublin for our 8th year anniversary in July 2012 and proposed in the castle we were staying in – a proper fairytale story.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“We really didn’t want our wedding just to be another ‘off-the-shelf’ affair so tried to put as much of our personalities into it without going over the top or making it look like a kids party which was difficult at times!”
“It started off quite relaxed but it soon caught up on us.”
“To feel more like us, my bouquet and Gary’s buttonhole were made from Comic Books.”
“We spent the week before the wedding raiding the shops of Lincoln for Super Mario figures and colour themed sweets – our centre pieces nearly didn’t make it!”
When did you get married?
“We were married on 20th April 2014 which was Easter Sunday.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“The whole day was amazing but my highlight (apart from the marriage itself of course!) would be taking a ride on a golf cart through the traffic of uphill Lincoln to the cathedral to get some more beautiful photos.”
I also loved our first dance – it was to Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis and our friends & family all joined in half way through which really started the party!
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Don’t worry about pleasing everyone else.”
“Do whatever you want to do – your friends and family will just be happy to be with you on the day and you’ll make the wedding much more personal & unique.”
“Also don’t be afraid to break away from tradition.”
“We didn’t have out a few of the wedding expectations such as the receiving line and a structured seating plan and it really took a lot of the stress away and the whole day felt very relaxed.”
Thank you so much to Courtney for sharing this fabulous comic book theme wedding.
Love the comic book buttonholes and bouquet, and the cake is an absolute show stopper, Lego is brilliant.
Great centrepieces too as who doesn’t love sweeties.
And I think I like the table plan most of all, so bright and a reflection of the couples fun loving personalities.
