“At Last” – A Glasgow Wedding Weekend with an Easter Egg Twist – Images by Imagine Images

Today I am thrilled to share this beautiful Glasgow Wedding captured by Imagine Images over the Easter Weekend.

This 2 part extravanganza was firmly family centric and fun, and brings to fruition a Love story that was meant to be.

Imagine Images who captured this Glasgow Wedding weekend are based in South Lanarkshire, and cover weddings primarily throughout Scotland however have travelled further afield.

Ross and Kirsty have a shared passion for photography and their innovative style combines the traditional elegance with those candid, un-posed moments. Capturing your day as it naturally unfolds, reflecting the mood, essence and emotion – ensuring  images remain timeless.

I spoke to Ross about the couple,

When did you meet the Couple?

“We met Dawn and Ryan in the middle of January, only 2 months before their big day! Their wedding weekend fell on the only weekend we had free in March – so we immediately felt very lucky to be able to photograph their wedding.”

“We had a really fun first meeting with Dawn and Ryan – and had an in-depth chat about how they wanted their weekend to go – and all the ideas for how they wanted their wedding photographs to look.”

“They wanted to visit various locations throughout Glasgow on the Saturday, so the planning stage for us became very important to be sure we could visit all the places, and be sure of the various pictures we would create at each.”

“When it came we thoroughly enjoyed covering Ryan and Dawns day – they were both amazing to work with and they had lots of fun venue choices for us to work with on the day!”
“The fact that the had split their wedding over two days allowed us to have plenty of time for pictures around the City on the Saturday which made the afternoon really fun and chilled out.”
“The contrast between the City Chambers and the Barras made for a real selection of funky and traditional pictures!”

“We especially enjoyed the petal drop in Arta on the Sunday night which provided a beautiful way to end a beautiful weekend.”

“Simply beautiful…”
I now hand over to the lovely Bride Dawn, who shares the Couples Love Story.

How did you meet?

“We initially met at school on a bus trip to Alton Towers at the ages of just 13 and 14.”

“After 4 years of endless nights talking on the phone and being ‘just friends’ I eventually came to  senses and realised I had fallen in love with my best friend.”

When and how did you get engaged?

“Ryan popped the question on the 6th of October 2012. It was what I thought was his birthday dinner in a private booth in the newly opened Chaophraya restaurant in Glasgow.”

“In front of a group of friends Ryan stood up with a well prepared speech, told me how much he loved me and asked me to become his wife, four grown men and not a dry eye in the house.”

“From then the restaurant was flooded with family and friends and it was champagne and cocktails all round! Ryan said that any big plan would have been too obvious as I make all the plans in the relationship!”

“And why do you need all that, it was an amazing night doing what we enjoy the most – dinner and drinks in town with friends and family!”

Tell me about your planning journey

“The planning was quick, all done in 5 months. We both agreed straight away that we wanted something different, an informal, chilled out and enjoyable wedding.”

“But what started off as a quiet evening affair ended up as a 2 day massive event!”

“The date was a big thing for us, we wanted something meaningful so the date we started going out seemed just right and the bonus was that it was Easter weekend.”

“Then came the location – where better to have your wedding than the city you live in and love!”

“As soon as we seen the inside of Glasgow City Chambers we knew that was the place. It’s an iconic building in the middle of the city and a spectacular backdrop for saying I Do!”

“For the evening celebrations Arta was perfect, the place is beautiful and the chic and relaxed feel was exactly what we were looking for.”

“We thought it was all over when we could only have the City Chambers on the Saturday and Arta on the Sunday, until I came up with the 2 day plan.”

“All we needed now was another venue for a chilled dinner on the Saturday and a place to rest our heads!”

“The Metropolitan balcony was chosen for Saturday night’s casual dinner and drinks and the Fraser Suites were perfect to put up the 80 guests.”

“By this time it was November and the next 4 months were go, go, go!”

“The planning was constant, everyday, night and weekend with lots of help from our mums and lots of advice from the bridesmaids.  All our hard work paid off in the end!”

When was your wedding date?

“Our wedding DATES were the 30th & 31st March 2013, 7 years exactly after we became an item!”

What was the best bit of your day?

“It’s hard to choose a best bit as the whole weekend was perfect! Walking down the aisle was special for me, seeing all my friends and family in the room when I walked in made me so happy and seeing Ryan standing at the end of the aisle smiling up at me made me feel like the happiest girl in the world!”

“From the moment we saw each other we started smiling and that was us smiling for the rest of the day!”

“The photographs afterwards were so much fun, not many people walk around the streets of Glasgow in a wedding gown; we had such a laugh with Kirsty, Ross and Simon capturing all the city’s best spots.”

“And then on the Sunday night there was the first dance! It truly was spectacular and Ryan says it was one of the most memorable parts of the weekend, and not only us but for our family and friends too.”

“Walking down the stairs in Arta with the petals falling around us and then dancing to ‘At Last’ with everyone watching on was amazing. It was the one part of the weekend that brought a tear to my eye!”

“And then the dancing kept going and going, the dance off was great fun and the floor was packed all night, everyone was having a ball, it was just what we wanted and it was thanks to all the guests who made it a night to remember!”

What advice would you give to other Brides and Grooms?

“I think to others I’d say to remember that your wedding day is a day about two people so don’t forget that, keep it all about the two people and most importantly make share you two enjoy every minute!”

“A quote I that I kept in mind is: A wedding is a party not a performance, if at the end of the day your married to the one you love then everything went perfectly!”

“Our wedding weekend truly was the best two days of our lives… and it’s only just the beginning…”
