“Beginning to look a lot like Christmas” – A Festive Wedding

Christmas Week gets off to a spectacular start with the gorgeous Festive Wedding of Claire and Rory who got married on November 30th 2012  at Atholl Palace, Pitlochry.

The bautiful imagery of the day was captured by Imagine Images.

Imagine Images  are a team of two photographers – a partnership in photography, and in life….They feel honoured to be part of couples special days – and love capturing those special moments that they can cherish forever.

They are based in South Lanarkshire, having moved the short distance from the south side of Glasgow covering weddings throughout Scotland.

They like to offer couples a mix of traditional elegance with a contemporary twist – capturing candid, un-posed moments whilst being friendly and unobtrusive.

Kirsty of Imagine had known both Claire and Rory for a long time – having attended the same school! Ross got to know the couple as they met up for an Engagement shoot, and then had a coffee and chat.

Ross says “After chatting though everything after the Engagement shoot it was clear that Claire and Rory had put a lot of planning into their Festive Wedding day – and we were keen to capture all the different elements.”

” The detail that they had put in to everything was amazing so we didn’t want to miss out anything when covering the day.”

“Due to the high amount of planning that had been put into the wedding, there was a really relaxed atmosphere on the morning of the wedding.”

“Claire and her bridesmaids enjoyed some champagne as they got ready – and Rory and the boys enjoyed a drink in the bar before getting into their kilts.”

“After a few pictures Rory was able to welcome guests and then it was time to get married.”

” The ceremony was beautiful – they had chosen four of their close friends to read during the service and there were a few tears from the bride and bridal party!”

“We moved directly outside for the group picture of everyone, some group shots and then some pictures of Claire and Rory together. It was really cold – but they both wanted some wintery pictures outside and were happy to brave the elements for a while.”

” We then headed back inside for a few more shots by the fire before Claire and Rory met with their guests and had a glass of champagne.”

“After the meal, Claire played a big part in the room being set up ahead of the evening guests arriving – there were loads of little details which in turn made the room looking amazing – exactly as she wanted it.”

” They enjoyed their first dance before braving the elements again – by which time the rain had started – for the firework display.”

” It was spectacular and we had managed to get on to the roof to photograph Claire and Rory watching them.”

“It was a great feeling when Claire and Rory told us they had so much fun doing all the pictures, however I do believe that the pleasure was ours! A fantastic Festive Wedding day with a fantastic couple.”

The couple now share their love story,

(Rory) “Claire and I grew up in the same part of town and were mutual friends with a lot of people. We would often see each other at parties or on nights out.”

“After 2 of our close friends moved away to Australia we started spending more time together. Being friends 1st was a great foundation for our relationship.”

“We got engaged at the end of July 2011. I proposed to Claire on the banks of Loch Lomond.”

” I ‘d arranged a night away at a quiet hotel knowing the next day I ‘d pop the question. I suggested a walk round part of the loch hoping to find a good spot.!

“We eventually found a small sandy beach where we sat down. We began to discuss the future and a possible move to Australia. I spoke about us getting married and Claire said I ‘d have to ask her to marry me 1st, so I pulled the ring out and proposed!”

“I was a bit worried when she started to cry. Turns out they were happy tears and she said yes.”
(Claire) “Planning our Wedding was the most fun I have ever had!   I loved the creative side of it all.  I love a theme in life anyway so wedding planning suited me.”

“I always knew I wanted a winter wedding as I love this time of year.   I like it when the weather changes and it ‘s time to be all cozy.   I love  Christmas as to me this is when the family all get together.”

“On the day, getting to see all that I had in my head (for the year and a half before) come to life  was very rewarding.”
“The planning process and wedding day had so many personal  touches and DIY things because we wanted to do as much as possible ourselves.”

“We hoped to create a wedding day that was us, that everyone would remember and ensure family and friends felt involved.”

Our Best Bits

(Rory) – “Seeing Claire ‘s planning all coming together. Such an amazing day spent with the people I am closest to.”

(Claire)- “The ceremony and becoming Mrs MacVicar as we are now our own little family.”

Advice for Grooms – “Just enjoy your day. It ‘s a hard slog getting there, but you ‘ve made it. Go easy on the drinks. Everyone wants to buy you one however no one wants to see the groom guttered. Especially your new wife.”

Advice for Brides – ‘Ideas don ‘t cost anything. ‘ I used this phrase lots when Rory started asking about prices and costing haha. Seriously though, just enjoy it.”

“Be organised, go with the flow and don ‘t settle. Its the only wedding day your going to have, if you want something, there ‘s always a way of finding it on line, think out of the box and be creative!”

“We both just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped and came to celebrate with us. Everyone has been very generous with their time in helping before the wedding.”

“We have been overwhelmed by everyone ‘s generosity and can ‘t wait to go to New York and enjoy all of the site seeing trips we ‘ve been bought.”

Thanks to Ross and Kirsty for allowing me to share their stunning imagery, and to Claire and Rory for sharing their love story and the outstanding creativity fo their Festive Wedding day.

I love all the wintery elements with a nod to Christmas without being overwhelming. Claire put a lot of work in making her and Rory’s day perfect and she did an amazing job.
