Today I am thrilled to share this Lincolnshire Wedding with a palette of Apple green, a Benjamin Roberts gown, Jimmy Choo shoes and a sprinkle of DIY.

I hand over to gorgeous Bride, Ellie…
How did you meet?
“We met in January 2008, we were both working for an IT company but on separate teams and I told Stuart off for not wearing a coat when it was snowing.”
His response was ‘ Well you can’t wear a coat with a pink tshirt… I thought he was really funny and we just hit it off from there.”
“He used to leave love hearts on my keyboard made into messages and then one night at a friends birthday, in May 2008, we got together.”
When did you get engaged?
“We got engaged in July 2012, we were on holiday in France staying at a gorgeous Moulin near Tours.”
“We’d gone out for a picnic by the lake and Stu had lost 3 games of backgammon in a row which I thought was odd as he rarely loses!”
“Then we drank some Vouvray (local champagne type wine of the region) and he knocked my glass over into my hair! Then as I stood up he dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him!”
“Apparently I paused for a bit (he said it felt like ages) – guess it was the shock! – but then I said Yes!”
“We celebrated with a meal at a local Auberge (the only Michelin star restaurant in the area). We still have the menu from that night framed in our house.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey?
“We wanted to get started right away but as we were travelling back from France we got a call to say the offer we had put in on a house had been accepted so we had that to sort out first!!”
“We set the date to be as close as the date we officially started dating as we could.”
“We knew that a hotel venue was not going to be bespoke enough for what we wanted and when our friends at Hemingby House offered us the use of their lawn, we just knew that was the right location!”
“We found our wedding photographer Courtney fairly soon after that and we had our engagement shoot in April 2013.”
“Luckily we were able to have it in the location we were going to get married and she made us feel so easy straight away.”
“The engagement and wedding photos are amazing and I’d recommend her highly to everyone.”
“We looked at lots of different marquees and caterers and found the perfect ones fairly early on. Jackie from Cooks Caterers can make anything your heart desires! We had mini croque monsieurs as part of our canapés!”
“All the little details were either made by us or members of our family.”
“I hand painted all the tealight holders, my dad made the cheese boards, the cake stand and the easel.”
“My mum made all the miles of bunting and put together our cake of cheese.”
“We bought the fabric for Stu’s cummerbund and bowtie and also the 100 apple green napkins back from America! (We got them shipped to hotels while we were there on business).”
“Tom from Arribar even made cassis caviar for our welcome cocktail inspired from drinks we had a few years back in Prague!”
“I was very lucky as I don’t think many brides get a lot of input from their grooms whilst ironing out the little details but Stu was involved in every single decision from the tags we stamped for the place settings to the fabric of the bridesmaid dresses. This led to me referring to him as ‘Groomzilla’.”
“I wanted to buy my wedding dress from a shop I had driven past every day since we got together (Ellie Sanderson) and they didn’t disappoint.. 1 appointment and 5 dresses later I had found the one!”
“Stu found a bespoke tailor in London and had his tuxedo designed to his exact specifications.”
“It all came together just as we’d planned it and we had the perfect day!”
When did you get married?
“We were married on the 24th May 2014 – it rained all morning – torrentially!”
“But at 1.45pm, the sun came out so that we could go to church and then it rained a bit during the service and then when we came out, the clouds cleared and we got blue sky photos!! It was heaven sent I’m sure.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“For me – walking into church and seeing all the smiles and then walking down the aisle and glancing at Stu who was grinning ear to ear.. And hearing my cousin gasp ‘wow’ when he saw me!”
“For Stu – seeing Ellie in her dress. It was the only bit of the wedding I didn’t get a say in and she looked amazing.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Do what you want and don’t let other people dictate. Don’t let other peoples opinions spoil your big day.”
“You’ll regret it if you let them persuade you into things you don’t want.”
“Divide up the ‘wedmin’ – it makes your groom feel more part of it and you’ll find out now if you work well as a team.”
“Keep a tab on the costs.. they easily get out of control.”
“Try and DIY as much as you can but don’t be afraid to ask for help – most people are dying to get involved and do something!”
“Don’t worry about having too much information / photos / inspiration – We had over 1GB on dropbox.”
“Pinterest can be your friend as well as your enemy.. don’t get upset if things don’t look as good.. Most of the pics on there are photoshoots not real life!”
“Enjoy your day and try and take a few minutes every now and again with your groom to look around and soak it all in.. It goes by far too fast..”
Thank you so much to Courtney for sharing this stunning Lincolnshire Wedding and her outstanding photography.
I love the stunning apple green colour palette, such a fresh shade which flows seamlessly throughout the day and decor.
Love all the DIY touches and how family and friends have come together to help accentuate the couples beautiful day.
