Peacock Obscura Photography is Derbyshire based Andy Pickard who says his work tells a wedding story in a sumptuous mix of contemporary documentary photos & stylish portraiture influenced by the glamour of the cinema..

I hand over to Andy to share his recollections of the couple and their  day…

“On June 6th 2014 I celebrated my birthday with a wonderful trip to Tuscany in Italy covering the wedding of Nicola and Will.”

“It’s always a massive compliment to be chosen to cover another wedding photographers wedding day, when it’s in the magical Tuscany region it’s a dream come true.”

“Nicola and Will had the perfect setting for a it, this intimate wedding was really special, full of emotion and love, surrounded by 25 of their closest family and friends.”

“Will as well as being a talented wedding photographer is also a wedding florist he created all the wedding bouquet and flower arrangements, the man has some pretty special creative skills.”

“I spent the day before the wedding with the wedding party capturing the preparations and getting to know this lovely couples family and friends.”

“When the big day did arrive it was a real honour to share it with some the nicest people it’s been my pleasure to work with.”

“The wedding day took place in two fabulous venues the prep and reception party in a little town called Barga at the Bagni Di Lucca with it’s own amphitheatre nestled in the hills.”

“The ceremony at the at stunning Cedri above the the town with incomparable views of the Tuscany region.”

“One of the emotional highlights of the day was a balloon release for the their still born son Mylo.”

“Nicola and Will run Mylo’s fund,  is raising money to support charities that helped them through their difficult journey after their son Mylo was sadly stillborn.”

“Mylo was at the wedding in the form of Mylo Bear who features in many of the photographs so he could share the day along with Otto their 2nd son.”

“This was a truly unique day and one that reminds me why being a wedding photographer is such a privilege I will cherish the time I spent with Nicola and Will as a highlight of my time as a wedding photographer so far.”

I now pass over to Groom Will…

How did you meet?

“We met at school, grew up together, and were proper childhood sweethearts.”

When did you get engaged?

“We got engaged in June 2013.”

“It was an elaborate engagment where I  sent Nicola flowers every hour throughout the day on her last day at work (before maternity leave).”

“I then covered her car in roses and placed instructions on what to do next in the car.”

“I asked her to drive to see Mylo (our son who was sadly stillborn in 2012).”

“Nicola was met by Mylo’s Graveside with a card and many rose petals surrounding the area.”

“I crept up behind on one knee with a haribo ring in hand!”

Tell us about your wedding planning journey?

“A whirlwind! Lot’s of fun but LOT’s to sort out.”

“As we were getting married abroad it requires a little more attention to detail.”

“If that’s not enough our UK wedding party was taking place in a cow shed, so as you can imagine a lot of work was needed!”

When did you get married?

“We were married on the 6th June 2014.”

What was the best bit of your day?

“All of it! The actual wedding was beautiful in a walled garden. Beautiful sun, lovley family and friends and fantastic food!”

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

“Enjoy every last minute. And do exactly what YOU want to do, don’t go with what you “should” be doing or what you’re told!”

Thank you so much to Andy for sharing this two part intimate wedding.

This was a lovely celebration and one where the emotion is very palpable.

Such a beautiful location, gorgeous floristry, and the balloon release and Mylo Bear is a fitting reminder of a special little boy where he is included in his mum and dads big day.
