Today I am really excited to share this fabulous Glasgow Wedding with a stunning bride in a Stephanie Allin Couture Dress with fresh flowers in her hair.
The Wedding took place at West Brewery in Glasgow and images of the day were captured by Joshua Porter.
Joshua says of his work….
“I’ve been a photographer from complete novice to now for around seven years and I’ve only just reached the age of twenty-two.”
“In that time I’ve furthered my skills in to film-making and moved in to making music videos, as well as wedding films.”
“I still primarily see myself as a photographer and seek to continue making a living using both mediums.”
“My career has taken me down some extremely exciting avenues over the course of the past year, taking me over Europe and the UK for around four months from summer towards the end of last year.”
“I’ve constantly pushed myself to become more than what I am currently or was in the past and I feel I’ve succeeded in at least honouring that promise.
It is very important to me that photography and film stay a part of my life and that this remains my career for many years to come, I have real passion for the art and photographing/filming weddings is a relatively new skill but one I very much enjoy and wish to continue taking part in.
Joshua says of the couple…
“Dawn & Alan got in contact roughly a year before their wedding, shortly after I had taken the foray into Wedding Photography.”
“I kept in contact with Dawn who was an extremely laid back Bride and this suited me completely as my style is very documentary and I go for a calm approach to my work.”
“I believe as a couple and, as a photographer, we complemented each other well.”
“On the day, from arriving at the hotel to greet Dawn and begin my working day, it was extremely laid back and very welcoming.”
“I didn’t have the previous opportunity to meet with them, as I usually do with couples I photograph weddings for (or engagements, etc.) due to other commitments with work taking me abroad for a number of months.”
“However, it was like I had known her for quite some time and photographing her was really easy from the get go.”
“There’s nothing like a day of work that doesn’t feel like a day of work, though you have taken hundreds of images.”
“The day never felt strenuous, everything was seamless and so well planned and they were an extremely well matched couple, both as calm as each other and laid back.”
“The fixtures and fittings of the entire day from the beautiful (and real) flower arrangements in Dawn’s hair, her bouquet and table arrangements for dinner were fantastic.”
“The fact they had such a giving nature to their wedding, imploring friends and family to grow moustaches and give money to the Movember charity was wonderful and speaks volumes for the kinds of people that they are.”
“A couple very much in love is really what I remember from the day, very happy with each other’s company.”
I hand over to lovely Bride, Dawn,
How did you meet?
“Allan and I met at work 4 years ago. Allan eventually asked me out on a date and he never got rid of me after that!”
When did you get engaged?
“We got engaged on 12th January 2013 in our lovely wee flat.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“We chose our wedding venue because we are frequent visitors there with our dog who is welcome in the restaurant.”
“We saw another couple getting married there and knew it was the place for us, and we didn’t view any other venues.”
“Next was my dress and then everything else fell together after a visit to the Glasgow Wedding Collective wedding fayre.”
When did you get married?
“We got married on 22/11/13 (Friday), at West Brewery Glasgow, which was lovely.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“It was such a clear dry day and the dark night made the venue so much cosier.”
“We also loved getting our pictures done. It was so relaxed and informal and our photographer totally put us at ease. It wasn’t this stuffy formal affair that most people dread.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Everyone told us to enjoy the day, relax, take it in. It whizzes past. Totally true.”
“Also, a little photo shoot by yourselves is lovely to catch up and catch your breath. After all, you’ve not seen each other since the day before.”
“Don’t sweat the small stuff, it’s a fun occasion so don’t stress about it or worry on the day.”
“If you have a good venue, everything just falls into place. Also, don’t do your table plan too early, it changes at least twice from the original!”
Thank you so much to Joshua for allowing me to share his beautiful imagery and this amazing Glasgow Wedding.
Also to Dawn and Alan for allowing me to have a glimpse into their special day.
There is so much to love about this Wedding from the beautifully simple naked cake to the gorgeous homemade rustic table centre pieces, and oh my…the flowers.
Such vibrant colours, a stunning bouquet and especially the fresh flowers in the Brides hair…magnificent!
Its also lovely to see so many fantastic Glasgow suppliers that I recognise…such a wealth of experience…all tied together to create a wonderful celebration.
