Love is always Central – A Glasgow Wedding – Images by Christopher Currie Photography

Today I am priviliged to share the lovely Glasgow Wedding of Dawn and Michael captured beautifully by Christopher Currie Photography, and shot at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow.

Christopher Currie Photography is made up of Chris & Gillian. They love shooting creative & documentary imagery of their clients love stories.

Their approach to wedding photography is all about capturing the memories of real moments, unobtrusive, observant and spontaneous.

You will often find them sneaking round corners, hiding in bushes and engaging in various of other covert activities. Sometimes for fun but mostly to capture couples at their most natural and beautiful.

That’s because they want to give clients something that will stir memories of how they felt on their wedding day, not just how nice their hair was or how shiny were their shoes.

Earlier today it was my pleasure to share  the Bride Dawn’s work  as a freelance Florist on the Blog and the images from her Wedding show just how talented she is, and you can see the supplier spotlight HERE.

I hand over to Bride, Dawn who shares her story,

How did you meet?

“We met while both working part time in a local supermarket. Michael was at college studying Music and I was at Uni.”

“Neither of us were entirely happy with our chosen courses and after a few years decided to take a break and go travelling.”

“Australia and Asia were our destinations for the next 6months.  It was a fabulous experience and the making of our relationship.”

When and how did you get engaged?

“We had been together over 8 years and lived together for 2 when Michael asked my dad if he could ask me to marry him.”

” This was in the early hours of the morning after my brothers wedding in May 2010 and he didn’t get round to asking until August. My mum managed not to spill the beans!”

Tell me about your Planning journey.

“Most of the planning was down to me. I’ve been working in the wedding industry for over 6 years and had a fairly good idea of what was on offer. We both fell in love with the hotel.”

“It was one of the only venues which could accommodate our day and evening guest numbers ( 70 day and 250+ evening) and the Grand Ballroom was breathtaking, we had to have it!”

“William at the Grand Central was an amazing help, he always made us feel welcome even though we sometimes felt out of our depth.”

“Our parents helped us massively with the wedding, without them it would have been a very different affair.”

“It was difficult to concentrate on my own Wedding having just started my own business, and so it wasn’t really until February/March 2012 that the real organising started thanks to my mum nagging me. Time just flew in from then.”

“Our Wedding Day was Saturday 22nd September 2012. It was my dads birthday and my grandparents wedding anniversary that day too so extra special.”

What was the best bit of your day?

“That’s difficult….. We particularly liked having our pics taken, just Michael and I, because it gave us a little bit of time on our own to take things in. I also liked Michael’s speech.”

“Michael played a few songs with the band at the reception too, which went down a treat.( the band were our good friends and Michael had previously been a member).”

What advice would you give to other Brides and Grooms ?

“I’m sure everyone says it but just stay calm and enjoy every moment because it goes so fast.”

“I’d also say to write thank you cards for any gifts as you go and not leave it all to the end…I’m still struggling !”

“On a serious note though, all of the organising and stress beforehand can get on top of you but when the day comes its all about enjoying yourself.”

“Also get a good photographer and although a videographer may not be your cup of tea, it’s amazing how many things you will see in your photos and video that you didn’t see on the day. …And you will have them forever.”
