Today I am thrilled to share the beautiful and emotional Scottish Wedding of Gemma and Will.
They got married overlooking Loch Tay, at Gemma ‘s dads bench.
Sometimes its much more about moments and memories, and those moments have been artfully captured by Sharron Gibson of The Image Garden.
Sharron is a professional photographer, mummy to two little people, Will and Greta, and partner to one of life’s eternal optimists!
Photography has been her lifelong passion, but when she is not photographing, you can find her doing one of the following things: Eating Marmite on toast, drinking Earl Grey Tea, trying to write that book, laughing out loud, playing (and winning) at Trivial Pursuit, jumping in muddly puddles, or explaining Star Wars to her 6-year-old
Sharron joined Gemma and Will as they were getting ready at The Kenmore Club, a beautiful set of cottages and golf club close to the banks of Loch Tay.
The Kenmore Club is the home away from home.
Situated in this most picturesque of Scottish villages—street lighting is somewhat frowned upon here as they prefer the light of the stars—Kenmore is dominated by the calming waters of Loch Tay.
The Kenmore Club’s charming cottage-style accommodations are in keeping with the local environment, and just across the way you will find Scotland’s oldest inn, with a chimney breast inscribed by the hand of Robbie Burns himself.
The ceremony was held at a bench that Gemma and family had made out of local wood after her dad passed away.
The bench was placed overlooking Loch Tay in Perthshire where Gemma’s family used to holiday when they were younger. It was one of her dad’s favourite places.
The gorgeous Scottish Wedding day was finished off with a traditional ceilidh, of course!
A wedding represents a new beginning for the bride and groom, a “birth” of their new life together.
But to truly celebrate the future, it is important to remember the past, and those that have influenced our lives in some special way, and Gemma and Will did that.
Sometimes choosing to pay tribute to those that have passed, and moments spent remembering will be some of the fondest of the day.
We know that our loved ones are with us in spirit, but remembering them on one of the most important days of our lives is a very poignant way to say “Thank You” for helping make us the people we are.
Thanks so much to Sharron for allowing me to share her beautiful work.
