Today I am thrilled to share this Stunning Autumnal Barn Wedding with images beautifully captured by Faye Cornhill Photography.
Faye Cornhill is a contemporary wedding and portrait photographer based in Amersham, Buckinghamshire.
At weddings, she prides herself on an unobtrusive, friendly style with a natural ability to blend in amongst your guests.
She strives to catch those special moments that families, friends and weddings throw at us; the cheeky giggle the Bride only does for her Dad or the loving smile he gives as she walks down the aisle.
Not just the key moments but also every little detail you have worked tirelessly to make perfect.
Faye says of the couple,
“I met Sarah-Jane and Ben at the Compleat Angler wedding fair in Marlow.”
“We had a really lovely chat about how they were looking for a barn to get married in and they asked me if I knew of anywhere for a Barn Wedding.”
“Immediately I mentioned Lains Barn! I immediately recognised what a lovely laid back couple they were and I love working with couples like this.”
“On their Wedding day there were genuinely so many lovely moments.”
“From the second I arrived to see Sarah in the morning until their incredible first dance.”
“So many smiles, a few tears and really lovely moments.”
“Sarah and Ben had clearly made an enormous effort with the finishing touches of their wedding and it really paid off.”
“The barn felt so cosy and warm and the second she arrived at the back of the aisle it was a really goosebump moment.”
The lovely Bride Sarah now shares the couples story,
How did you meet?
“Ben & I met at our place of work, a secondary school.”
“I was temping as a school secretary after looking for work for over 9 months, and Ben was a teacher at the school.”
“A lot of the staff would go for a drink on a Friday after work, Ben and I were both there that Friday on the 4th Sept 2009, and the rest is history.”
“We got engaged on the 30th of October 2012.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey.
“We decided to spend the last couple of months of 2012 celebrating our engagement and crack on with the wedding planning in Jan 2013.”
“We soon realised that we would like to get wed in 2013 but a little later in the year, and around our other friends weddings.”
“5 of our friends got engaged and decided to get married this year too, busy year but great to share the same experience with our buddies!”
“Once we decided on the time of year, autumn, this helped us choose our colour scheme.”
“We looked at various type of venues, but we went back to the first venue we saw which we fell in love with, a cosy barn in Oxfordshire, Lains Barn.”
“It’s been an incredibly busy year with the planning of our dream wedding and buying a house in February 2013, but with the help and support of others everything fell into place beautifully.”
“We got married on the 1st of November 2013.”
“We like flowers but wanted to steer clear of the traditional flowers as centre pieces.”
“We both like candles and loved the idea of a candlelit wedding breakfast with our friends and family, so we ditched the flowers (apart from the top table) and replaced with tree stumps and candles on each table instead, giving it a cosy and romantic feel to our barn wedding.”
“As with all weddings I’m sure we had a couple of hiccups along the way, but everything happens for a reason and our day was truly perfect.”
“We have met some amazing people along the way this year and everyone who has played a part made it really special.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“This is very difficult for us because every aspect was so amazing.”
“But if I had to say my best bit then for me it was probably walking down the aisle to our acoustic duo (who were sat in the minstrel gallery)..”
“They were singing ‘Feels Like Home’ with our friends and family to either side of me and my dad, and seeing Ben’s face looking so proud.”
“And after talking to Ben, his fave part was our first dance! Interesting considering that part took us a week to rehearse and the rest of the day took 11 months to organise .”
“During our service we asked Mango Acoustic (who we would highly recommend as well) to play an Elbow song ‘One Day Like This’ so we and our guests could sing-a -long too.”
“This went down a storm and we both really enjoyed seeing everyone belting this song out!”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“To make sure you spend time with your new husband/wife throughout the course of the day.”
“Lots of people gave us this advice and we took it, which contributed to making our day so special.”
“We both wanted to make sure we spent time with everyone but actually we didn’t want to lose sight of what the day was about, us, and starting our lives together.”
“We often had a cheeky kiss in a secluded place in the barn, or let our hair down and have a dance together.”
“It really was everything we dreamt of, and more.”
Thank you so much to Faye for sharing this gorgeous barn wedding.
The couple have really taken the colours of the season and embraced the theme throughout their day.
From the warm tones of the oranges and reds to the leaf detailing there is so much to inspire. I particularly love the Cake table , the table plan and the delicate leaf touches to the napkins…beautiful!
