With the Blog I never stick myself in a box and love all types of Weddings whether traditional or alternative, and this incredible Steampunk Wedding had me open mouthed with its personal stamp and creativity.
Images of the day were captured by Julie Anne Images.
The couple, Alison and Damion had been together for 20 years and started thinking about holding a celebratory party for friends and family.
But the plans grew, and turned into a let’s-get-married idea, with an intimate marriage ceremony and a party that absolutely represented who they are and how much they loved each other.
Steampunk is based on Victoriana and the age of invention, lots of cogs and leather corsets and top hats with goggles, with a little bit of a sci-fi / punky / gothic twist.
From the appearance of Alison’s beautifully restored steam engine ‘Reckless’ (plus the extra show-engine organized by her dad as a surprise), to the homemade button bouquet with a brooch and a ring from each grandmother…
From the authentic bustle skirt made by Alison’s mum in the months beforehand, to the genuine Victorian frock coat and top hat worn by her dad…
From Damion’s cane and goggles to the steam engine taking guests on trips around the reception venue, while the pianola was playing in the marquee, next to a cake stand made of wheels and cogs…
The guests got fully involved in joining in with appropriate steampunk and Victoriana outfits.
Julie Ann says “What I absolutely LOVE about this wedding is the couple’s unique stamp on it, feeling free to be themselves and not being subject to any rules or expectations of how a wedding day should be played out.”
“It made for an absolutely brilliant celebration that even day-long pouring rain couldn’t dampen!”
What an incredibly creative couple. and images captured so beautfifully by Julie Anne who has captured the spirit of this Steampunk Wedding so well.
Alison and have put so much thought into each part of their big day and along with their families and friends have created a celebration that could transport back to yesteryear, with so much detail to inspire.
