Today I am thrilled to share a gorgeous Vintage & Superhero inspired Wedding with a Maggie Sottero Dress.
The Wedding was held at The Walled Garden at Cowdray Park, and images were captured by David Craik Photography.
David says of his work…
“I have been a professional wedding photographer for just over 2 years now, Roz and Dave’s wedding was actually the first ‘professional’ wedding that I shot.”
“After just a year of shooting I was lucky enough to be made a preferred wedding photographer for Hampton Court Palace, as well as Horsley Towers, both in Surrey.”
“Obviously a couples’ wedding day is one of the most important days of their lives, and as such, there is a lot to think about in the lead up to the day and the day itself.”
“I’m very much a ‘people person’ and I set up David Craik Photography to try and let couples ENJOY the photography instead of it being another thing to worry about.”
“I make sure that I capture the true emotions and events of the day, with the bride and groom being photographed in a relaxed but professional way.”
“I want to create photos that will be made into an album or printed, displayed on the wall or brought out from time to time, and will ALWAYS make them smile!”
He says of the couple and their day…
“I met Roz through her sister who is one of my wife’s best friends. I had also photographed her sisters wedding so Roz and Dave had seen me before and how I work.”
“Roz and Dave’s wedding was one of the very best weddings I’ve photographed.”
“You know when something comes together so perfectly and you wish for nothing more?!”
“The venue was beautiful, Roz and Dave were relaxed and ready to have the time of their lives, and the way they decorated the venue, dressed the tables and dressed themselves was just stunning for photography.”
“Dave is a big Superhero fan – so they made sure they had aspects of both of them present somehow – the table settings were amazing – so interesting – his stamp was the superhero table plan and table names and hers was the vintage style tableware.”
I now hand over to beautiful Bride Roz…
How did you meet?
“We met through some friends, then on a night out I dropped my earring down the toilet, Davey was the first person I saw so I asked if he’d mind rescuing it for me which he did, he’s been glutton for punishment ever since.”
When did you get engaged?
“We got engaged in June 2011.”
“We were on holiday in Spain with a couple of friends and Davey proposed at a lovely little restaurant called La Finca.”
“He got down on one knee and popped the question and then applause erupted. Then my thunder was stolen by the waiter bringing his ring out which he had lost the day before in their swimming pool!”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“Ooooh it was THE BEST.”
“We wanted a marquee in a nice outdoor setting somewhere and I stumbled upon The Walled Garden at Cowdray Park online which wasn’t really what we had in mind but we went to see it anyway.”
“My mum said don’t book the first thing you see… but we did, we just knew it was perfect.”
“The rest of it was pretty gradual, we had ideas of how we wanted the day to look and feel and on top of that got inspiration from wedding sites and magazines.”
“It was all very easy and stress free (that’s what I thought anyway). Davey got stress eczema (apparently) the poor thing…”
“I also refused to do any spread sheets, I didn’t want to meticulously plan every fine detail and put pressure on ourselves to meet these.”
“We just went with the flow and it all fell into place. I miss the planning a lot!”
What was the best bit of your day?
“Every single second of it, from the minute we woke up to the minute we went to bed – and then reliving it after too.”
“I think the biggest surprise was how magical it felt having all the people you adore in one place and knowing they are all there to celebrate love with you. I’m welling up.”
“It was also amazing to see all our planning come together – everything looked so pretty.”
“What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Just enjoy everything from the moment you get engaged – it truly is such a brilliant thing. You’re celebrating your commitment as a couple – there’s nothing difficult or stressful about that!”
Thank you so much to David for sharing this amazing vintage & superhero inspired Wedding Day.
Its mixes just the right balance of fun and elegance just as the Bride and groom should balance each other and do.
So much love is evident and the styling is perfection, adore their Table Plan.
