Today I have great pleasure in sharing the lovely wintry Wedding Day of Gemma and Luke shot last December by the lovely Simon Buck Photography.
Simon’s final wedding of 2010 took place on the 3rd of December at the award winning hotel and restaurant Satis House in Yoxford, Suffolk. The freezing weather did little to dampen the Bride and Groom’s spirits and their intimate ceremony had a true winter wedding feel.
Simon is an Award winning professional wedding, portrait, lifestyle and editorial photographer. Covering Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridge, London, Norwich, Ipswich, Southwold, Holkham and any foreign destination.
He says of his work, “I’ve been shooting weddings for six years now all over the UK and Europe. I love my work and I’m really lucky to have worked for some wonderful people, been to some amazing locations and won one or two awards along the way. People ask me what my style is – it’s Simon’s style.”
“By that I mean I use light to capture lovely moments on a happy day. I work hard to create wedding images that will have longevity, that means not immersing myself heavily in the latest trends and being labelled as a “reportage”, “vintage”or “traditional” shooter. My images will have elements of all of these but fundamentally I come from the school of thought that says if you aspire to create the new classic rather than focus on a current trend your images will be enjoyed for far longer.”
“I met the couple in the spring of 2010 while they were visiting from their home in Spain. Gemma actually works as an event manager in Barcelona so I had my work cut out to impress her!”
“On their Big Day it was absolutely perishing, around -8 or 9oC I think. This was just as we entered the horrendous spell of freezing weather before Christmas 2010 and for a while I did wonder whether the wedding would happen as the forecast was grim.”
“Luckily the snowfall on the day was minimal, a couple of inches or so, so everybody made it to the venue in one piece.”
“Satis House is a chic, boutique hotel and they certainly know how to run a wedding. It was a warm and cosy affair, with Christmas decorations and lots of candles giving a really festive vibe to the proceedings – a wonderful alternative to the bright summer weddings we shoot regularly.”
“Gemma and Luke certainly seemed to enjoy themselves. I shot the Ceremony and formal Portraits leaving just as the celebrations were getting in full swing.”
Thank you to Simon for sharing his beautiful images.
I think snow in moderation on a Wintry Wedding Day, and a Christmas tree and all the baubles and candlelight provides an added romantic air.
Its a heartwarming sight for love coming together at any time of the year but especially at Christmas.
