Today I am thrilled to share a beautiful Winter Wedding in Hathersage with hints of green, cream and lace.
Images of the day were captured by Ewan Mathers Photography.
Ewan Mathers is a Wedding, Portrait and Commercial Photographer living in Derbyshire covering Derby, Nottingham, the UK and beyond.
Ewan says of the couples Winter Wedding…
“I was blessed to play a part of Iain and Alison at the George Hotel in Hathersage just before Christmas.”
“This was a lovely wedding and Alison and Iain were so good to be around and just let me get on with it.”
I remember that it was a very relaxed affair and very friendly – I really felt a part of the day.”
“I like to record what happens at a wedding rather than creating “moments” and Alison and Iain loved what I did for them on the day and how I was able to capture the feeling they had wanted to create.”
“As the wedding was just before Christmas, and late in the afternoon, it was dark by the time the wedding ceremony was finished so all images were captured inside.”
“This was a challenge but it gave everything a warm and welcoming home style.”
I hand over to beautiful Bride Alison….
How did you meet?
“Iain was on a stag weekend…in Harrogate where I was living at the time.”
“His friend came up to me to say ‘my friend thinks you look nice’!!! The old ones are the best ones!!”
The Engagement
“It was on Christmas day 2011, a festive proposal and it was lovely!”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“As we had both been married before, we really knew what we did and didn’t want…and the main thing was having people there that really knew us.”
“We wanted a small civil ceremony in the same venue as the reception, especially as it was a winter weather, we didn’t want people getting cold or wet!”
“My wedding dress was so easy to buy…my niece had opened a wedding dress shop in Edinburgh (The One Bridal Shop on William Street) in the March before the wedding….and she had the
most perfect dress for me”
“She had actually picked it out as THE one…..and so did I….quite separately!!”
“The flowers were soourced local to the venue, recommended by our wedding organiser from The George Hotel in Hathersage…..and they were lovely!”
“Even managing to make some of the flowers in my bouquet to look like lily of the valley…..my late mum’s favourite flower!”
“The overall planning was really easy!”
“Some things, I think we were a little late with organising…but we still managed to get the band we wanted, the time and date we wanted…..and almost all the people we wanted there to be there.”
When did you get married?
“We got married just before Christmas, on Thursday 19th December 2013, a lovely Winter Wedding.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“We really couldn’t pick one bit out….the whole day was just perfect.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Do EXACTLY what you both want to do…….with the budget that you set!”
Thank you so much to Ewan for sharing this wonderful winter wedding day.
I love the greenery through the florals and table decoration, and the touches of lace in table runners and chair sashes just add subtle glamour.
The colour palette compliments the season without being too Christmas and its just a very elegant celebration of love.
