Its been a bumper 2012 for Scottish small business, LHG Designs who this week is celebrating after winning a second industry award in four months.
Its a far cry from times past when inspired by the art studio she was sitting in as a student the dreams of LHG Designs were created.
Clad with a degree in Product Design and a love of fashion and weddings Louise Hamilton Graham, set up her own business in jewellery and hair accessories.
With a passion for weddings, Louise launched www.weddingandbaby.co.uk in 2009.
As a mum her time was limited, but as her family grew so did her business and team. Focusing more and more on hair accessories and jewellery, she launched LHG Designs as a sister site in March 2012.
The awards this week have solidified Louise’s place as a leader in Scottish Bridal accessories design.
The annual Scottish Independent Retail Awards took place at the Crowne Plaza, Glasgow sponsored by United Wholesale (Scotland).
It is now in its third year and celebrates the talent, hard work and passion of the owners and employees of Scotland’s Independent Retailers.
The event acknowledged the independent and creative spirit of small businesses all over Scotland. With this sector providing such an important part of Scotland’s economy and employment it is only right that it be given the recognition it so rightly deserves but does not often receive.
I have long been a fan of Louise, wearing her designs for work and Industry events, and I am really chuffed for her as she really deserves all the recognition for her beautiful work.
The award comes on the back of a fantastic year that has seen LHG Designs grow in both clients and stockists after being rebranded from Wedding and Baby.
This award comes just four months after Louise won a design contest, where she created a bracelet design that will be manufactured by the leading bridesmaid fashion retailer The Dessy Group.
Not only did she win $500, the international manufacturer will be selling Louise’s design via their online store under her name.
Being awarded Accessories Retailer of the Year on Monday night was the icing on the cake. The award recognises the hard work and excellent customer service that LHG Designs has provided over the last 3 years.
Asiyah Ahmad of event organisers Creative Oceanic said: “With the high street so often being dominated by large chains, it is important to recognise and applaud those who work to provide the public with an alternative along with the great level of customer service and care which comes from being an active member of the community.”
“The event gives the public the opportunity to say thank you to these people and let them know how much they are appreciated.”
LHG Designs, which specialises in creating hair accessories and jewellery, is now gearing up for further expansion by launching their new 2013 collection in stockists throughout Scotland.
Louise says “Winning Accessories Retailer of the Year 2012 is a huge achievement for a small business. I can’t thank my bridal clients enough.”
“Not only have they shown their support by nominating me for this award, I regularly get repeat custom for bridal and special occasion accessories from their recommendations.”
LHG Designs rebrand was launched in March of this year with a new ecommerce site http://www.lhgdesigns.co.uk/.
Although the website reaches a wider market, it is the personal consultations from Louise’s home studio that has customers enthralled.
Claire Quinn, a very happy client stated “All in all a great service and I would highly recommend LHG Designs not just for their beautiful headbands and jewellery, but Louise’s patience and advice too.”
So things are very much on the up for LHG Designs and I wish Louise every success.
