Today I am absolutely thrilled to welcome a fabulous new Sponsor to the Plans and Presents Blog.
Roslyn Scoular is a 26 year old singer based in Glasgow.
Roslyn has always loved performing and began singing at an early age. She performed in musical theatre, at such venues as The Kings Theatre in Glasgow, until 2004 when she took a break from performing to attend The University of Glasgow.
After her graduation in 2008 she began giving solo performances at a variety of family functions and charity events before starting up as a Business in 2012.
I had a wee chat to Roslyn to find out all about her,
What is it you do, and what services do you offer?
“I’m a Glasgow based singer available for cabaret nights, weddings, charity events and party nights for all occasions.”
“I have an extensive repertoire and offer a number of different styles of singing ranging from ballads, jazz and soul to rock, pop and contemporary chart hits, and tailor every performance to suit the audience.”
When and why did you start your business?
“I started Roslyn Sings earlier this year, though I’ve been singing since I was very little.”
“I used to entertain family and friends at parties and events and even sang at my Uncles Wedding.”
“When I started to get requests for performances from more distant family friends, and friends of friends that had heard about me, I decided to take the plunge and set up my own business.”
“Since then I’ve begun singing at restaurants, weddings and charity events in and around Glasgow and I’m loving every minute of it!”
What inspires you?
“My love of singing was originally inspired by the old musicals that my grandparents would watch with me when I was a child, so show tunes will always hold a special place in my heart.”
“However, these days all kinds of music inspire me; a songs ability to affect the way you feel is amazing, and seeing an audience engaging with one of my performances is just wonderful.”
“I was also inspired by my best friend who set up his own photography business a few years ago. Seeing his success and being able to go to him for advice has been invaluable while setting out on my own.”
What’s your greatest achievement?
“For me actually starting up my business has been a great achievement in itself. It’s something I’d thought about for years so actually having it all set up now is quite a thrill.”
What’s the future for your Business?
“I’m looking forward to expanding my client base and area of operation as things grow, but other than that I don’t know what the future will hold for me. I’m excited to find out though!”
Thank you so much to Roslyn for coming on board. I am sure you will agree her music is especially beautiful and soulful and she would be an asset at any event.
