Today I am thrilled to share a beautiful intimate bohemian and beach inspired elopement shoot at The Cherry Barn.
Images were captured by Rebecca Carpenter Photography with planning by The Stars Inside, and the collaboration of a fabulous creative team.
Valentina of The Stars inside says of this gorgeous…
We had originally planned to capture this shoot on the shores of Camber Sands, entirely outdoors on the beach.
Mother Nature had other ideas and the day ended up being exceptionally windy and rainy, so we took refuge at the Cherry Barn, a stunning 17th-century oak framed barn venue just outside Rye in East Sussex.
As it turns out, it was perfect for the beachy vibe we envisioned, and we were thrilled and blessed to have been able to shoot there!
We marvelled at the vibe it created, and that it showed how to create an intimate, seaside atmosphere even while indoors – and alongside that we were able to combine this with the grassy textures of the farm’s beautiful orchard too.
The wooden beams and warm tones complemented our styling ideas seamlessly, and in the end it seemed like fate that our original plans had fallen through.
The inspiration for the aesthetic and colour palette was that of rock and sand, and to do that we used all different shades of earthy browns, taupes, and tans.
Wonderland Invites created a stunning insight into the day with a beautiful invitation in delicate earthy tones.
Our Brides gorgeous gown was from Love in Lace Bridal, with earrings & necklaces from Claire Hill Designs, rings & anklets from Lily & Roo, dried flower hair accessories by Folky Dokey., and a gold Halo Crown from Ziptie Jewelry.
Her florals were by florals from Bloomantic, and her exquisite natural make up look was created by Storme Make-up and Hair.
To compliment his Bride our Groom wears a suit from Suit to Suit.
At its heart, we wanted the atmosphere to feel bohemian, wild, and beachy, while still holding on to a sophisticated and contemporary vibe.
For the styling we played with mixing textures, including velvet, raffia, wood, shell, and terracotta – most notably for the tablescape, complete with grazing feast from Plentifull and comfy cushions.
Decor and Props were provided by The Collect Co, textiles by PomPom Blossom and pretty signage by Here’s To Us.
To bring the look of the day to its stylish conclusion a fabulous cake with sleek lines and curves and floral adornment was designed and created by Avantgarde Cake Studio.
As this shoot was centred around the idea of intimate elopements, our priority and inspiration was for the day to feel joyful and personal – with the kind of comfortable, meaningful luxuries that a nature-loving couple might treat themselves to for their celebration in a heartfelt and authentic way.
Small and intimate weddings can be just as joyful, and visually breath-taking, and are the perfect option for couples out there affected by the current circumstances as well as for those whom a large wedding simply doesn’t reflect their personalities, values, or priorities.
When it comes to the styling, I would encourage couples to think about all the meaningful details that are going to make up how the room feels – those personal little things that tell the story of YOU.
