Today I am delighted to showcase this beautiful styled bridal shoot that blends classical elegance with a woodland twist.
Katie says of the shoot and the Venue…
Penton Park is a beautiful country house in the village of Penton Mewsey, on the outskirts of Andover, Hampshire.
Playing host to a maximum of only 20 weddings a year allows the owners, the Rolfe family, to give each couple the time and dedicated personal service they deserve.
All whilst the stunning building continues as a functional family home for three generations.
Unlike many country house type venues that can have a conveyor belt feel to weddings, Penton maintains that quaint familiar homely feel.
You can sit in the drawing room upon the sofa and feel like you can be totally at ease.
In addition to two licensed rooms, the portico has recently been granted licensed status giving couples a beautiful and flexible outdoor ceremony option.
The house is utterly beautiful, but so are the surrounding grounds, so with news of the portico licensing, this became the natural focal
point of our styled shoot.
Local events planner Bespoke Events & Hire co-ordinated an inspiration shoot, with assistance from myself to capture all the elements of the shoot in magnificent detail.
When organising the shoot it was important that all the main suppliers were local and therefore ideal choices for couples choosing the venue.
It has a large bridal preparation room, a grand staircase beautifully lit from a skylight overhead, not to forget the 4 main rooms downstairs including the bar serving beers from Penton’s very own brewery.
The theme of the shoot was classical elegance with a woodland twist, and this allowed for perfect juxtaposition of high end glamour with the rustic surroundings of the gardens.
The outdoor setting in the wooded area played host to a sweetheart table with an exquisitely elegant 5 tier cake from Tinkerbelle’s Cake
Design being the main focal point.
The individually hand piped ruffles on the base tier perfectly matched the mauve hooded ruffled chiffon chair sashes.
The stationery from Polka Dot paper was elegant and simple, with scripted mauve font and a brush of metallic silver, beautifully tying together with the key elements on the table.
Against a magnificent large tree rested the mirrored table plan, hireable from Bespoke Events & Hire and infinitely customisable with vinyl designs from Lily & Jim’s.
The mirror was flanked by two beautiful arrangements in tall mirror vases.
The floral arrangements created by The Little Flower Shop again played on the mauve theme with a soft palette of pinks, purples and whites incorporating an array of greenery to link together the juxtaposed outdoor and elegant aspects of the day.
Down from the house, and below the manicured lawn, is a large area of long natural grass, surrounding a path leading to an enchanting metal framed gazebo.
This is a functional area for guests to enjoy, especially warm summer evenings, whilst also a stunning location for bridal portraits.
The gazebo was a natural choice for photos needing no decoration due to the beautiful wisteria currently in bloom.
The wisteria both on the gazebo and on the main house is carefully manicured each year for maximum photographic benefit when in bloom.
The portico was decorated with soft draping and flowers, whilst surrounded by chivari chairs adorned with hooded sashes and small floral arrangements.
The large gravel area in front of the portico offers many options for couples.
Small ceremony or large, or anything in between, they can all be accommodated.
Brides also have several options for their arrival, including by horse and carriage or car, along the drive to arrive at the bottom of the aisle.
Alternatively they can prepare within the house in an upstairs bedroom, coming out of one of the doors leading on to the gardens, and then round to the ceremony area and aisle.
Bridal boutique Sass & Grace provided the gorgeous fluted lace dress, with striking back detail from Ellis Bridal.
The dress balanced perfectly with the groom’s lightly patterned tuxedo.
Completing the bride’s look was jewellery, including an exquisitely intricate hair vine, earrings and necklace from White Designs, all hand made by the exceptionally talented Tracey.
