As we celebrate Christmas Eve I am excited to share an elegant Ralph Lauren-inspired Christmas Wedding at Shupe Homestead with green, red and tartan detail.
Images were captured by Sarah Goff Photography with the collaboration of a fabulous creative team.
Joann Berrian, Event stylist and designer at Pine Hollow Vintage says of the shoot…
I’ve always been inspired by the classic and timeless appeal of Ralph Lauren.
After working with Sarah on another shoot and hearing her desire to shoot a wedding that was more formal than some of the typical Colorado weddings, I called her.
I was going to use a model from an agency in Denver, but Sarah told me about this wonderful couple she just shot for their engagement photos.
She told me how romantic and cute they both were, and when I sent her the mood board, we both knew they were the perfect couple for the shoot.
My stepson had gotten married at Shupe Homestead in Longmont, CO, in 2017. It was a summer wedding, and most of the event was held outside.
In the evening, however, we went inside to watch some videos and dance. I kept looking at the large stone fireplace, and I kept it in the back of my mind.
When I pulled the design together, I contacted Darla at Shupe Homestead, and to my surprise, a styled shoot had never been done there before.
I asked her if she would be interested, and she was, so we agreed on a date and I started to organize the vendors.
I had also dreamt of this unique and stunning ornament I once saw and wondered if something like that existed that could be an invitation.
For a winter / Christmas wedding, what a special gift to guests to have a treasure to last forever on their tree…a reminder of the special day that they attended this beautiful wedding near Christmas.
I searched and found Nicole Wilson of Invite Design, and her patented ornament invites, so I reached out to her to see if we could get one for the shoot.
She happily obliged and in a few weeks, the dream of this special invitation was in my hands. Her incredible design, a flat circular invitation that becomes a spiralled tree ornament, was right in my hands…like a dream come true!
I quickly gathered other pieces together: Ralph Lauren buffalo check linens, tartan napkins, plaid shoes, cuff links, a special buffalo check flannel hand-made bow tie. And then the jacket for the dress….that was the most difficult.
I visited Dora Grace bridal department in Fort Collins and Hannah guided me toward dresses that were new, fresh, but still timeless.
I fell in love with 3 of them and had Gabrielle, our bride to be, try them on. When I saw her in the dresses, I knew which one was the most special for the shoot and for her bubbly personality.
Zach, her fiance’e, is also such a special man. Funny, sweet, and so in love with Gabrielle, their chemistry was a joy to see!
Zach’s tux was classic, clean and easy to accessorize with a winter boutonniere, vintage tartan cuff links, and that bow tie!
Sarah, our photographer, was quick to capture their glow and all the special moments of the day.
The hair and make up vendors were easy to choose – they are professionals, and their work was sharp. Palette and Pin created a pretty hairstyle while Joyful Jessie Artistry applied some wonderful natural make up.
Gabrielle looked so beautiful when she stepped off the chair and into her Cole Haan plaid heels.
Pine Hollow Vintage did all the florals and greenery – bringing in loads of fresh green boughs for the tables, and layered in fresh pomegranates, pears, apples, and velvet baubles.
Vintage china was brought in to complete the holiday tablescape, including red goblets, champagne flutes, and other vintage glassware pieces. Gold flatware and chargers were chosen, along with gold candlesticks.
The centerpieces were lush with pink, white, and red roses, berries, holly, fresh greens and pine boughs, all set in stone compotes.
The sweetheart table was layered with white linens and topped with Ralph Lauren buffalo check in the traditional red and black.
Cakes by Tiffanie created the cake and after going back and forth with some design ideas, the look was complete. I also brought in apple tarts, berry tarts, and tiers of desserts to create a lush and beautiful dessert table.
With the backdrop of that long remembered fireplace, blazing with a huge flame throughout the shoot, and a dozen or more Christmas trees all glowing with twinkle lights and ribbon, the shoot was a day to be remembered.
The couple even sipped hot chocolate from Ralph Lauren mugs, got whipped cream on their noses, and wore stocking caps at the end for a fun end to the indoor portion of the shoot.
Outside, the couple kissed in front of the barn, stood beneath the large LOVE sign, and as the sun went down, a weary but joyful crew hugged because iour Ralph Lauren-inspired Christmas Wedding came together so beautifully!
