Today I am thrilled to share this exquisite expressionist painting inspired wedding styled shoot shot at Menier Spaces in London.
Images were captured by Berni Palumbo Photography with with the collaboration of an incredible creative team.
This amazing London expressionist painting inspired wedding shoot was created to give inspiration to couples who want to have a design led, unique and modern wedding.
It was born out of a shared passion for expressionist art with the aim being to explore the Avante Garde way in which this art movement allowed 20th century visual artists to explore and celebrate subjectivity, emotion and introspection.
Similarly this modern love story is told through the use of light, colour and texture, against the backdrop of twinkling city skyscrapers and bright, bold brush strokes.
The setting was a penthouse hidden away above the busy streets of London acting as an oasis of quiet and calm for our couple so they could be mindful and present with one another.
City weddings are often very industrial or with a pub atmosphere, so we wanted to show them an alternative that is elegant and chic, fashionable and trendy, while being timeless.
The inspiration came from the expressionists paintings – the main colours we used were blue and deep magenta, with touches of gold.
Timeless colours, deep and rich, they allowed for every element of this wedding to be a statement and a focal point of the wedding.
Art is a perfect place to start looking at for inspiration – by beginning with textures and colours, it can give you ideas for all of your wedding elements, colour palette and theme.
