Fiercely beautiful, adventurous and untamed Viking Wedding Inspiration

Today I am thrilled to share this fiercely beautiful , adventurous and untamed Viking Wedding Inspiration styled shoot set in Reforge Retreat in Devon.

Images were captured by Freeformimages Photography with the collaboration of a fabulous creative team.

The Venue

Reforge Retreat is a brand new venue in  Blac Torrington in beautiful north Devon and along with the owners Faith and Jules, Magpie Event Planning agreed a Viking inspired wedding shoot, as the owners have a passion for Viking history.

Reforge Retreat began as a glamping venue, but owners Faith and Jules have reached out to expand this to include weddings alongside Magpie Event Planning with the view to convert the barn into a licensed venue also.

The setting has 20 acres of land, historical plants, lakes, family designed and built gazebos and views for miles.

The Concept

With a team of incredible suppliers the vision celebrating these norse seafarers came together.

The absolutely magnificent Nixie James-Scott from Unique Ceremonies performed a lovely and thought out handfasting including traditional Viking values such as the exchanging of family daggers.

The Look

The team wanted to create a strong Viking image with the bride and groom whilst still having a romantic feel.

Models Sarah and Ben made the perfect couple demonstrating both a delicate and alternative aesthetic.

April and Kerry worked together seamlessly to create stunning looks for Sarah, Nixie and Ben to compliment the theme and the gorgeous dress from Amica Bridal Boutique.

Decor, Styling and Accessories

Sammy Lea’s Retro Emporium, Marmaya Creations, Clares Wedding Creations, Claire’s Sweet Temptations and The Lucky Sixpence provided some stunning, personalised items for this viking wedding inspiration shoot.

These included a leather jacket hand painted with animal skulls to compliment the cake, a fierce tiara to show Sarah as a Viking Princess and hand pyrographed runes focusing on the traditions of marriage to decorate the table.

Florist Harriett chose some stunning wildflowers incorporating the deep red ribbons to tie in with the rest of the decor, while a a skull was placed in the bouquet to bring a little edge..

Tubes and animal skulls as accent pieces, while Coutts Events provided some beautiful handmade antique table and chairs which created the perfect base for the pieces we had collected for the shoot.

North Devon Archery Academy provided the stunning bows which were decorated by Harriett from Sweetpeas and Sunflowers adding a romantic touch to the concept.
