Today I am delighted to spotlight on a new “How To” Floral Workshop from Lorraine Wood Flowers.
Lorraine Wood set up Lorraine Wood Flowers in 2011.
With a background in blooms from her teenage years where she worked in a flower shop as a Saturday girl in Paisley, Lorraine continued her floral craft training in floristry at college and working in some of Glasgow’s most established florists before setting up her own business.
Fresh, innovated and bespoke, Lorraine’s by-appointment only wedding and event florist is now branching out into new ground.
The series of floral workshops will be held at her studio in Renfrewshire.
The workshops will demonstrate to budding florists and keen crafters how to create a hand-tied spiral bouquet.
Lorraine Wood, said: “The spiral bouquet is fast becoming the go-to choice of floral arrangement for the home. It is characterised by a symmetrical shape and circular structure, which is created by layering flower stems diagonally around a central point.”
Lorraine will be showcasing her know-how, giving away inside trade-secrets, explaining how to condition and prepare flowers and demonstrating the technique of spiralling stems to create a hand-tie design.
The first themed workshop will run on Saturday 4 April at 10am and 12noon with further workshops running on 18 April, 14 May, 16 May and 27 June 2015.
The cost of the classes, £40.00, includes all flowers, equipment to use on the day, refreshments and each student will take home their own creation.
The workshop is a great opportunity for those just wanting to learn the art of flower arrangement or for those wanting to consider crafting their own wedding bouquet.
Workshops can be booked via the website.
