Today I am thrilled to introduce Fairway Cakes who create Wedding Cakes, celebration cakes, cupcakes, cake pops, wedding favours and cakes in jars for all occasions, from traditional to totally bespoke.
The brand is based in Normanton, West Yorkshire.
I hand over to Lisa to tell you all about her blossoming Brand…
Who are you, and what do you do?
“My name is Lisa Swift and I am the owner, manager, designer, baker and creator at Fairway Cakes.”
When and why did you start your Company?
“I launched Fairway Cakes 4 years ago.”
“I was given a voucher for a cake decorating course as a birthday gift, and when I went I fell in love.”
“I somehow just knew that this was something I could do and love, I didn’t want to leave at the end of the day.”
“That was it, I was hooked and I’ve never been happier.”
What inspires you?
“Everything I see or do can inspire a cake.”
“Songwriters say that they can get inspiration from their work from the tiniest of things and I’m the same with cake.”
“A colour, a ribbon, a mood, a word….. all send my brain into a flurry of design mode and the sketch book has to come out.”
“That inspiration is magnified by the response from my customers.”
“They see my passion, they hear it in my voice and they see it and taste it in my cakes. My reward is their reaction.”
“I simply love what I do, I can’t summarise it any other way. Each creation is a labour of love.”
Do trends influence your work?
“I’m aware of trends, you have to be, but I don’t let them steer my designs.”
“I suggest fashions and styles but ultimately, my customers make their own choices and my job is to create their dream cake, not mine.”
“Fashions come and go. I want my couples to look back on their photographs 20 years later and see a cake that hasn’t dated and that they still love.”
“Classic and timeless. Quirky and fun. The cake reflects the couple rather than the date.”
What is your greatest achievement?
“Every time I see my logo I am filled with pride. This is my Company, my dream, my achievement.”
“Every piece of feedback or new order is an achievement. It’s going from strength to strength with every passing year and I love it. Onwards and upwards.”
What do you see as the future of your Company?
“Longevity. I want to make christening cakes for my couples’ children, I want to make their anniversary cakes.”
“I want to be still going strong years from now with a strong customer base and my reputation selling my cakes for me.”
“It’s not about bigger and better for me, it’s about reputation. I want Fairway Cakes to be a “brand” that is recognised as one to trust, one to turn to and one to love.”
“I love every second from the initial enquiry, to the design, to the meetings with customers, to the challenges of the creation, to the delight on the face of the customer, to the fabulous feedback on the deliciousness of the cake.”
“This truly is a dream of a job and I could wax lyrical about how much it means to me people grew tired of listening.”
“My customers say they can feel my passion when I do consultations and I’m pleased that that’s the case.”
“Passion means caring about what you do and if you don’t have that passion, if it’s just a job, then you shouldn’t be involved in a business where you are fulfilling people’s dreams.”

Such artistry and thought in their design making them all the more alluring
