I hand over to Bridie to tell you all about this blossoming brand…

Who are you and what do you do?

Hey! I’m Bridie owner and creative director at Born To Thread, a beautiful bespoke designer clothing label with rock n roll influences.

I pride myself on bespoke garments and working closely with the client to achieve their perfect unique design for the big day.

I also make a range of customised faux leather jackets for badass brides and rocking babes.

Where are you based?

I am based in Ripon in North Yorkshire.

When and why did you start your business?

I studied fashion and textiles throughout college and then university, graduating in 2008 with a FDA Fashion Production then in 2010 with a BA(Hons) in Fashion Enterprise, developing skills in advanced pattern cutting, garment construction and business.

Born to Thread was created in 2014 specialising in bespoke womenswear and alternative bridal wear for the non-traditional bride – though all ideas are welcome, I love a challenge!

I started Born To Thread because I wanted to offer quality designs that make women feel confident in what they wear no matter what shape or size.

I pride myself in creating sustainable elegant garments with a creative twist that will last a lifetime.

What inspires you?

I absolutely love colour and experimenting, especially with fabrics – I always like to start with a colour and go from there.

I believe everything can inspire you but I love researching into different cultures, music and films.

What has been your greatest achievement?

I feel like 2017 has been a big achievement for me all round, I took my business in a different direction at the start of the year and I have had such a positive response.

I have made exciting stunning garments for clients and I’ve also had the chance to collaborate and meet with other amazing suppliers for photoshoots, which I never even thought I’d get a chance to.

My Business is blossoming into a business that I am proud of.

What are your goals for the future?

To keep making kick ass outfits! I have a few ideas in the making but I’m mostly concentrating on getting my brand noticed and out there to people.

I’m super excited for what 2018 has in store for my business.

Saw these personalised jackets at a wedding fayre yesterday! I love them, they’re ideal for making the day even more personalised (and practical for the cold evenings).
