Today I am thrilled to share the beautiful work of Knots & Kisses who create colourful & Personal Wedding Stationery.
The Brand is based in Okehampton in Devon.
I hand you over to Nikki Ward who tells us all about her beautiful work…
Who are you, and what do you do?
“Hi I’m Nikki and I am the owner and designer of Knots & Kisses Stationery.”
“At Knots & Kisses I create colourful and personal wedding stationery and greetings cards with a focus on giving clients a high level of customer service and stationery which is a little bit different for their wedding.”
“This can include everything from wedding invitations and save the date cards, a full range of matching reception stationery and bespoke items such as favour labels and bespoke signs.”
When and why did you start your Company?
“I started Knots & Kisses in 2009. I have a background in Illustration and had spent many years in Visual Merchandising but what I really wanted to do was run my own creative business.
“After designing a full range of wedding stationery for my sisters wedding and helping several friends and colleagues with their invitations I finally took the plunge and set up Knots & Kisses.
“With the support of my amazing other half … who also as it goes came up with the name … Knots & Kisses has gone from strength to strength.”
What inspires you?
“Gosh so much inspires me … I have always had a love of vintage styles so many of my ideas come from the past.”
“I have a particular love for the floral style of the 1940s and also Victorian Botanical illustrations so many of my stationery designs have floral elements.”
“I’m also a massive fan of interior design and fashion – I studied fashion illustration and almost did an interior design degree instead – so these two creative worlds are always at the forefront of my mind.”
“Interiors magazines often give me colour inspiration and fashion is a fantastic source of inspiration for prints from textiles.”
Do trends influence your work?
“Yes they do. I often feel like many in the wedding industry feel the need to apologise for this and I really don’t feel like I should have to.”
“Yes I have my own style and this will obviously always come through in my work, but I would be lying if I said that trends didn’t also influence my designs .. I’m a magpie and love current fashions.”
“I try not to fixate on a trend totally though and always try and work it somehow into my own style.”
“There are plenty of trends I have avoided because they are just not me!”
“I would also always say that a couple should only pick a particular style for their wedding and stationery if it is already something they both love and are passionate about – your wedding should be a reflection of you as a couple and not just what’s currently in fashion.”
What is your greatest achievement?
“It sounds a bit cliché but even though I have had plenty of tangible achievements such as blog features, magazine features and had my work featured in photo shoots…. I would still say every time that my greatest achievement is being a small part of so many couple’s weddings over the years.”
“The best feeling in the world is receiving a thank you card or present from my couples and pictures of their big day.”
What do you see as the future of your Company?
“There are definite plans to keep Knots & Kisses still expanding.”
“I launch another 3 new ranges of wedding stationery this Autumn and I have plans over the next year to reimagine the website so clients will be able to order their invitations, rather than just samples, directly from the website.”
Thank you so much to Nikki for sharing her beautiful wedding stationery.
I love paper pretty and I love Nikki’s eclectic range of themes and use of beautiful vibrant colours.
