Today I am thrilled to share the beautiful work of Coral & Slate who design bespoke prints, wedding stationery and signage.
I always get excited over paper pretty, its wonderful when something beautiful comes through your letterbox with promises of lovely times ahead.
I hand you over to Kate Sargent to tell you all about her blossoming Business…
Who are you, and what do you do?
“My name is Kate and I create bespoke stationery, prints and signage, for a number of occasions, specialising in weddings.”
“Although my work can suit any style of wedding, I would say my main ‘brief’ is to make contemporary items that still have traditional elements.”
“I have four main ranges, which can be tweaked to suit the happy couple’s special day.”
“This could be a change of colour, maybe to match the flowers or bridesmaid’s dress, or altering fonts, wording, anything really.”
“Or, I offer a bespoke service where I work together with the couple (and often their Pinterest boards!) to create something completely unique to them.”
When and why did you start your Company?
“Coral & Slate Designs has been going officially for almost a year, working with lots of lovely couples along the way.”
“However, I created my own wedding stationery including my table plan, which is still on my wall, 5 years on.”
“I have also been a go -to for friends and family for prints, invitations and so on for a number of years and have always enjoyed that creative outlet.”
“As a wife and mother of two, creating stationery, prints & signage, works perfectly for me, and it is genuinely a privilege to be a part of the best day of people’s lives.”
What inspires you?
“The happy couples. I love hearing their stories, their plans, the special little touches, unique to them that they’re incorporating into their Wedding Day.”
“That is why I enjoy doing the consultations with the couple, it enables a conversation where we bounce ideas off one another, working together to come up with something perfect for them.”
“I also love to hear feedback from my clients once they have received their wedding stationery and/or sent them out to their guests. It really does make all the hard work worthwhile!”
Do trends influence your work?
“Yes & no, when you work in a creative industry, it is hard to not be inspired by trends that you see.”
“However, I try to break away from this to a point as I think every bride is looking for something ‘a bit different’, in varying degrees.”
“The inspiration for our latest watercolour range has actually come from seeing a growing trend in hand-painted cakes.”
“I also wanted to, for a new range, offer a unique element as my hand-drawn floral range has been popular.”
“The world has become very automated and electronic and I think people like to know that time, effort and (trying not to sound cheesy, but failing) a little bit of love has gone into their wedding stationery.”
What is your greatest achievement?
“Finding a profession that doesn’t feel like work!”
“Being able to contribute to the best day of people’s lives, in a creative way, really is something very special.”
What do you see as the future of your Company?
“I am always looking to expand my products; the world we live in is constantly evolving, looking to create different items to suit those changes.”
“For instance, we offer invitation strut cards for people to invite their co-workers to the evening reception without the formality of handing out printed invitations.”
“I have also had a couple of requests recently for the invitations to be styled similar to a lanyard that you would wear around your neck, for a festival style wedding.”
“I have also had great feedback regarding our Guestbook Prints.”
“I still have my guest book from my wedding but, 5 years and 2 children later, it is in my wedding box in the spare bedroom.”
“What I love about my Guestbook prints is that from afar you can just see the ‘Mr & Mrs’ but when you get up close, you can read all the beautiful words and wishes your loved ones have written to you, as a couple.”
Our new range
“Our new watercolour range is a modern take on floral invitations; it is very pretty without be ‘twee’.”
“This, as with my other ranges is available in three colours, this being pink, blue & purple, however this is just the beginning.”
“Like the style but your colour is burgundy and your flower is tulips?!”
“No problem, we can hand paint something completely unique to you and your wedding day.”
“We offer items to set the tone for the couple’s special day, from Save the Dates & Invitations, to Menus & Table Plans, to Thank You cards & more…”
Thank you so much to Kate for sharing her gorgeous wedding stationery with us today.
As a huge fan of art I really love the new watercolour range, so delicate but bold at the same time and very pretty.
