Today I am thrilled to spotlight on Couture Bridal Wear of Elizabeth Malcolm, and share her gorgeous Midsummers Dream Collection.
Lizzie, the founder of Elizabeth Malcolm, knew that she was destined to be in the bridal industry from a very young age.
For as long as she can remember Lizzie has been fascinated by fine fabrics, embroidery and couture sewing techniques, fuelling her desire to learn more about the process involved in designing and manufacturing exquisite wedding dresses.
For the final year of her Fashion Design degree, Lizzie honed her skills and created her very first collection of bridalwear entitled ‘Putting on the Ritz’ heavily influenced by the 1930’s style.
Following completion of her degree Lizzie worked at various bridalwear manufacturers and retailers including a leading Central London couture bridalwear designer.
Having now launched the Elizabeth Malcolm label, Lizzie prides herself on taking time to get to know a bride creating a beautiful and unique wedding dress to each and every one of her clients.
Her boutique is situated in the beautiful market town of Belper, Derbyshire and offers a purely bespoke service where all gowns are designed and manufactured for each individual bride.
Brides can come into the boutique and can choose from their extensive range of beautifully hand-crafted wedding gowns made from fine silks, satins, French leavers lace and Swarovski crystals.
Alternatively they can have the ultimate in luxury couture and have their dream wedding dress designed and handmade to their exact specifications.
All of their bridal gowns are handmade to fit perfectly by having calico toile fittings. This ensures the beautiful cut and exquisite fit she is quickly becoming renowned for.
Lizzie says of the Shoot of her Midsummers Dream Collection…..
“I had been in talks with Matt Lowe the photographer for a while now about collaborating on a photo shoot.”
“We had many emails back and forth, sharing ideas, building on themes we thought would work well.”
“We both wanted to use the Mill building my boutique is situated in as I am in love with the history and the architecture of the building.”
“Matt, when coming to visit found the stone walls an interesting subject and was interested in using some of the Mills furniture as props.”
“A hint of a Steampunk theme was a natural progression, especially with the Victorian architecture, and this theme tied in really nicely with the fact that the Mill was the first steam powered mill of its kind.”
I did as much research as I could and gathered some stylised photos and then went around the mill looking to source props.”
“I was delighted when I came across a baby grand piano and red Chaise Longue, pieces as they really add interest and depth to the final images.”
Thank you so much to Lizzie for sharing her beautiful and unique couture bridalwear collection .
Love how the collection blends luxury and elegance with an edgier look in some of the designs.
