Guide To Be – A user review site for the UK wedding industry

Today I am thrilled to introduce you to Guide to Be , the first user review site for the UK wedding industry.

Now if you were looking for your next big holiday, there are not many that would book without having a wee look at Tripadvisor.

This works on the same premice that Brides and Grooms can give their honest opinion and rating of the services that they used for their Big Day.

I had a wee chat to Eve Brill that runs Guide to Be…

Who are you, and what do you do?

“I’m Eve, CEO of Guide To Be – the first user review site for the UK wedding industry, where real couples share honest reviews to help others make their dream wedding come true.”

When and why did you start your Company?

“Guide To Be launched in February 2014.”

“The idea was born last year when I was living in Sydney but planning my wedding in Glasgow and needed the inside scoop on suppliers.”

“It was difficult to visit lots of venues, attend caterer tastings and arrange florist consultations, so I ended up relying heavily on recommendations from friends (and friends of friends!).”

“I was frustrated to find there were no independent sources or dedicated wedding review sites to help make an informed choice about specific suppliers.”

What inspires you?

“I want to see more transparency in the wedding industry.”

“Couples spend a lot of money on suppliers and have the right to be as informed as possible about what they will be getting. I love the idea of newly weds sharing the love by passing their wisdom on to others. This idea is at the heart of Guide To Be.”

Do trends influence your work?

“Absolutely. Our reviews are written by real couples so whatever trends are happening in real-life weddings will automatically be mirrored in the types of reviews posted on our site.”

What is your greatest achievement?

“Seeing the site go live was fantastic.”

“We are only 6 weeks old and already have over 60 brides in our community.”

“More reviews are being added each day and our social media following is blossoming. The response from the industry and brides alike has been overwhelming!”

What do you see as the future of your Company?

“Our success relies on newlyweds to pass on their wedding wisdom by reviewing their suppliers, to help other brides like them.”

“Our ultimate goal is to be the first port of call for every couple starting their wedding planning journey, as a trusted source of impartial advice on which suppliers will make (or break!) their dream day.”

“We have started with a soft launch, choosing five key cities (Glasgow, London, Manchester, Birmingham and Cardiff) to begin with to build up a body of reviews.”

Thanks so much to Eve for telling us all about her fabulous user review site.

I think the Wedding world has been crying out for an independant site such as this and its a brilliant resource for Brides and Grooms to make informed decisions based on solid feedback on suppliers that they may wish to book.

I don’t go anywhere on my holidays without Tripadvisor, and don’t know many that do so why would the creation of one of the most important days of your life be any different, even more so infact.

Also as a special launch promotion, people who write reviews will be entered into a competition to win a romantic break for two at the five-star Turnberry Resort.

So get reviewing for the chance to surprise your spouse with a luxury mini break!
