Today I am delighted to spotlight on these amazing hand baked cookies from Cookie Kitchen which can be the perfect compliment to your Wedding or Celebration.
Cookie Kitchen is an on-line boutique bakery based in Lincolnshire that sends cookies throughout the UK.
I had a chat with owner Jacqui to find out more about the Brand…
Who are you, and what do you do?
Hi, I am Jacqui and my company is Cookie Kitchen.
I make hand baked and hand iced cookies, which are bought for all sorts of occasions from birthdays to retirement, graduation to weddings.
I sell my cookies in tins and in boxes and I also do individually bagged cookies for parties and as wedding favours.
I have standard designs that customers can choose from and I also make custom designs.
When, and why did you start your Company?
I started my company 2 years ago.
Before this I was working in a local school, but when my job finished I looked around for something new to do.
My family had owned a bakery and, when I was growing up, I worked in the bakery during school holidays and for a time after I left school.
I found myself reverting back to baking and started making cakes and cookies to sell on local markets.
Over time I began looking at ways to sell via the internet and items I could send through the post and so I began baking cookies and icing them and promoting them through facebook, twitter and pinterest. The interest I generated was great and orders soon started coming in.
What inspires you?
My inspirations for my designs come partly from seasonal demands, such as holidays like Christmas and Easter and special days like Valentine’s and Mother’s Day, partly from things I see around me and partly from customer requests.
For example, a customer recently contacted me to say she was attending a Mendhi party and would like some cookies to take along.
I have, in the past, done henna tattoos and so I used her ideas and my own experience to come up with some henna style cookies, which she used as party favours. I have also made similar cookies for wedding favours.
I also get inspiration from the internet, where there is a wealth of cake and cookie makers and bakers, wedding planners, food photographers and designers who make stunning, inspirational designs and create inspirational settings, from which I gather new ideas.
Fitting in time to create new designs is not easy, as my days are filled with fulfilling orders, but I do get to make unusual designs quite often following customer requests/inspirations.
Just recently I have made beautiful butterfly cookies, handbag themed cookies and Peter Rabbit themed cookies, all to customer specifications, so no two days are the same in this business!
In terms of wedding cookies, I mostly produce three specific items for customers.
Firstly, I make wedding favours. These are individually bagged cookies which are used as part of the table decoration or given as favours to those who take part in the wedding ceremony.
I also make tins of wedding cookies which are given as a gift to the happy couple. These are readily available to buy on my website and I ask for 2-3 business days to complete the order ready for posting.
The final wedding themed item I make is the cookie card, which consists of around 2-3 cookies in a slim box which will fit through a letterbox.
People send these as an alternative wedding card, along with a small card containing a personal message.
Alternatively, they have the cookie card delivered to themselves and take it along on the day of the wedding for the bride and groom to open on the day.
The cookie cards are also popular for engagement and anniversary celebrations.
What do you see as the future of the Brand?
Looking to the future, I would like to continue to expand my internet business, in particular the cookie card range.
I also plan to continue to produce party favours and wedding favours.
I would like to add a range of other cookies such as shortbread and gingerbread, available in jars, which can make a lovely, one off gift or used to decorate wedding tables and desert tables. I am also looking into producing hand iced cupcakes.
Although I am home based at the moment, eventually I would love to have a purpose built unit, hopefully with a small shop area too.
I would like to be able to create jobs for others and run a small team, and provide decorating classes to show others how much fun cookies can be.
Thank you so much to Jacqui for sharing her stunning hand baked cookies.
So pretty, and wonderful as a gift, as part of a dessert table or as an individual wedding favour.
