Today I am delighted to share the lovely work of The Melt Pool, and their lovely handmade soy candles.
From clear glass votive containers, to travel tins, to Wedding Favours and beautifully frosted glass jars, there is something for everyone.
This family run Business is based in Glasgow, Scotland.
I had a wee chat to Julie Dougan about her blossoming Business,
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Julie – founder and owner of The Melt Pool candles…we handcraft a range of luxury yet affordable handmade soy candles which are 100% natural.
All of our candles are made from natural soy wax and scented with pure essential oils.
As well as making the handmade soy candles themselves, we also create each scent by blending the essential oils and each scent can spend months in development whilst we achieve the perfect combination of essential oils.
Our range includes various sizes of container candles and we also make candles for special occasions including weddings of course – we offer a wide range of wedding favour candles to suit every budget.
Why and when did you start the Melt pool?
The Melt Pool was founded early in 2012 whilst I was on maternity leave with my second child.
I have always loved candles and essential oils and used a lot of essential oils during my pregnancy – put this together with a desire to do something creative and The Melt Pool was born.
What inspires you?
I am completely inspired by nature and what it has to offer in this modern world.
The power of aromatherapy is astounding and it never fails to amaze me how something so simple from nature can have such a powerful effect.
What is your greatest achievement ?
My Greatest achievement to date is launching The Melt Pool and within a year having 17 stockists.
We also have a number of regular customers who love our products and really understand what we can offer over the mass produced candles that seem to be on sale everywhere.
What do you see as the future of your company?
The Melt Pool is a small business and whilst we would always like to keep it that way, we are keen to develop the business by gaining more stockists for our range of candles.
I also love working on commissions and love being able to tailor our range to suit a special occasion and am very keen to develop The Melt Pool Weddings where we provide not just candle favours but also larger and more elaborate candles for table decorations etc.
Thanks so much to Julie for sharing her wonderful products.
I am partial to a lovely candle and how they make a house a home really. With their beautiful aromas and warming quality its just really relaxing and beautiful.
And from a Wedding perspective, candles are great for use in filling space, being used in arrangements and of course as a fabulous gift for wedding party members or using the smaller candles as favours.
For the month of September The Melt Pool are giving away a free Votive candle (worth £4.50) in your choice of scent with every Fresh Thyme Kitchen Candle purchased…
