Today I am thrilled to spotlight on Hatton by Design, an online bespoke engagement ring and diamond jewellery specialist based in the heart of Hatton Garden.
With over 40 years in the industry, from their diamond buyers to their master craftsman, they work to the highest standard to bring you unique and beautiful pieces of jewellery.
I talk to Head of Trend Kate Hayes to find out about the Brand….
Who are you, and what do you do?
“Hatton by Design is a new online bespoke engagement ring and diamond jewellery specialist based in the heart of Hatton Garden.”
“Our mission is to provide people with the very finest diamond jewellery and engagement rings at exceptional prices. Up to 75% cheaper than the High Street.”
“We are able to provide such low prices by having direct access to both the master craftsmen in Hatton Garden and the diamond market, without the expensive costs and overheads of a High Street presence.”
“Our unique online diamond ring tool has been designed to help people create a unique design unlike any other piece of jewellery with over 16000 configurations.”
“We allow people to choose the shape and style of ring, the cut and size of diamond, the colour and clarity. And unlike some online diamond retailers we offer certification for our diamonds.”
“Once a ring has been designed, our master craftsmen in Hatton Garden then go to work on creating every unique design. It will then be packaged beautifully and sent for that special moment.”
“We are passionate about providing a luxury customer experience and pride ourselves on offering the highest quality.”
“Quality stems from being ethical and we only deal with sight holders of the Diamond Trading Company to ensure all of our diamonds are conflict free.”
When and why did you start your company?
“The idea for Hatton by Design was formed a year ago when the founder Steven Jenkins had a conversation with a wholesale diamond expert in Hatton Garden.”
“With most other luxury brands moving online, he set about to create a bespoke diamond jewellery business which would offer the finest diamond jewellery and craftsmanship. All without the ridiculous mark-ups that you get with a High Street brand.”
“Working closely with the creative agency, Atomic London, he developed the new luxury brand Hatton by Design, for which we created our own technology to offer customers a unique way to create their own designs.”
“We have launched in July, and we are offering people access to the master craftsmen in Hatton Garden without having to visit London.”
“Or as Steven puts it: “Rather than bringing people to Hatton Garden, we are taking Hatton Garden experience to them. On their phone, on their laptop, through a luxury experience.”
What inspires you?
“Setting up a diamond business has been an exciting journey. And working closely with a diamond expert with over 40 years experience in Hatton Garden meant that we understood very early on what people look for and what is important to them.”
“Building a luxury brand that offers the same exceptional quality of service to match our product has been critical to launching our brand.”
“And we push ourselves everyday to make it the best possible experience for our customers. That’s what inspires us.”
Do trends influence your work?
“Trends form a huge part of the brand we have created, but also the range of bespoke jewellery that we offer.”
“When it comes to the brand, we knew it was important to appeal to both men and women in equal measure.”
“We were inspired by other luxury brands that had been established for a long time and we set out to create jewellery that would stand the test of time and become a sign of craftsmanship. So this has been a huge influence on the way we work.”
“Although we are a new brand we know how important authenticity is, so rather than simply show beautiful jewellery we decided to show people the real workshop in Hatton Garden where every ring is individually made.”
“Ensuring that the designs and choices we offer are in keeping with the latest trends is important to us.”
“To do this the Brand brought in myself (Kate Hayes) as Head of Trend.”
“As an experienced retail buyer, I quickly identify the latest fashion by building a social network and monitoring online conversations around diamond jewellery.”
“Having one finger on the pulse of what people really want, means we can offer the latest designs faster than most High Street retailers.”
What is your greatest achievement?
“Creating a luxury brand with real authenticity has been a great journey, and we were only able to do this by bringing a passionate group of people together who wanted to change the game.”
“People who brought cutting edge skills in diamond buying, manufacture, branding, digital expertise, as well as product research and social networking.”
“To be able to harness these talents into a cohesive unit whilst being determined not to rush things, and to begin a journey to build a great British brand has been enormously satisfying.”
The chance to be able to create a beautiful piece of jewellery personal to the wearer is something very special indeed and the experience is so very important as this will be rpobably the most important piece of jewellery you will ever wear.
