Today I am thrilled to welcome Wedding Photographer Liam Smith as a Sponsor on the Plans and Presents Blog.
Liam is based in Milton Keynes, but covers Weddings all over the UK and Europe.
His photography style is about blending in with the guests and capturing those special moments as they unfold naturally. He likes to think his pictures help to re-live the magic of the day.
Photography has been a part of Liams life for longer than he can remember.
After being introduced to the majesty of art and visual communication at a young age his love affair with photography developed and has never relented.
He shares his life with his partner Jen and most of their adventures are based around food, the aim being to eat their way around the world finding the best dishes, cheeses and wines.
Photography has taken him to some extraordinary places and has allowed him to meet some fantastic people.
He has been lucky enough to have photographed weddings all over the UK and Europe, recent destination weddings include France, Austria and Croatia so far.
I hand over to Liam to hare a little more about his Business…
Who are you, and what do you do?
“I’m Liam Smith, a wedding photographer based in Milton Keynes. I photograph weddings all over the UK and Europe.”
When and why did you start your Company?
“I started photographing weddings in 2009.”
“I started a photography degree in 2006 and by the time I had finished I had photographed what felt like every restaurant in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire for various commissions whilst studying.”
“I had built up an extensive portfolio however it wasn’t until I photographed a wedding for a family member that I felt that I had truly discovered my photographic calling.”
“There is something so captivating about a wedding day, it’s an emotional roller-coaster and you get a front row seat.”
“You quickly realise how much of a privilege it is to be so intimately woven into somebodies wedding day and once you’ve shot one, you don’t really want to photograph anything else.”
What inspires you?
“I love the great documentary photographers who can capture a story in a single frame, the truth and honesty of a moment is what I hope to translate into my wedding photography.”
“Another massive source of inspiration is simply other wedding photographers.”
“As digital photography has evolved the styles of photography have diversified massively, some pushing the boundaries with Photoshop, others making a step back towards film and analogue methods, it really is an exciting time in the industry.”
“I’m not sure that I have a single greatest achievement.”
“I am most honoured to have been voted the best wedding photographer in Buckinghamshire for 2015 at the Wedding Industry Expert Awards.”
What do you see as the future of your Company?
“I will always love shooting weddings and that will be the ideal, to keep learning developing and improving in all areas.”
“I would love to eventually teach others, not just about wedding photography, but about the joys of photography in general.”
“Taking people on a journey from the first time you see a picture appear in the darkroom developing tray right through to the more philosophical arguments of the place of photography in modern culture and its historical significance in recording events.”
Thanks so much to Liam for coming on board and I look forward to sharing his work with you all soon.
