Today I am very excited to spotlight on the awesome Kelly Scully of Tantrums and Tiaras who creates award winning bridal tiaras, jewellery and accessories.
I have known Kelly for some years and the quality and craftmenship of her designs is outstanding, and I am really thrilled to welcome her as a brand new Blog Sponsor.
I hand over to Kelly to to tell you all about herself…
Who are you, and what do you do?
“Tantrums and Tiaras is a family business, run by myself (Kelly) and my husband Mark Scully.”
“I am a Designer of all things sparkly, fun and pretty.”
“Incorporating Swarovski Crystals and pearls, freshwater pearls and diamante we have put together stunning collections of hair accessories, bridal tiaras, and bridal jewellery whether it be a bracelet, pendant, earrings or necklace.”
“I am solely responsible for designing and hand making every piece.”
When and why did you start your Company?
“My skills are entirely self-taught continuing a passion discovered in my youth for jewellery making after falling ill in 2005.”
“After a while I realised I liked the whole pearly girly thing and this led me into bridal jewellery and headpieces to which I remain firm today.”
“My signature style has the fashion conscious budget savvy bride in mind.”
“I therefore work hard to ensure I deliver what brides will be looking for that season and try to set and not follow trends.”
What inspires you?
“That could be anything from lampposts on a French street to the back garden, to one of my child’s toys.”
“There really is no limit to where I can see new designs! I do love certain eras and styles though too, particularly the 1920s and sparkly and glitz of the 1950s.”
Do trends influence your work?
“Dress trends do but that’s it. I feel it’s my job to look at what the dress designers are doing and make headpieces that will suit the dresses brides will be wearing.”
“I tend not to be one of these that jumps on the ‘latest fad’ bandwagon and prefer to do my own thing.”
What is your greatest achievement?
“This is the bit where I should roll out my awards… ”
“I’ve won Best Bridal Accessories with one magazine and come Highly Commended 5 times with two other magazines which is always an honour, particularly when you’re voted for by your brides.”
“My biggest achievement though is probably the fact that I’m still going!”
“I’m 10 years old next year (2015) and to be still going strong in a market which has certainly seen its ups and downs in the last few years is testament to the commitment I plough into the business.”
” No easy feat considering I still work full time and have a 2 year old and a 6 month old to look after!”
What do you see as the future of your Company?
“I have a list as long as my arm for things I’d like to do with the brand going forward.”
“Some of which are so new and innovative I won’t share them just yet!”
“One area I would like to address though is my website. I love it and it’s been with me a while but maybe for our 10th Birthday I may look to getting that changed.”
“To close I just want to say that everything that Tantrums and Tiaras supply is handmade from premium components.”
“As such brides can be assured of a quality product that has been lovingly crafted using materials that are sourced solely from British suppliers.”
“This personal touch means that every piece is fully customisable and for the bride that wants to be fully involved, they can be part of the design process and have her own bespoke creation for their special day.”
“I also offer private consultations at no extra cost.”
“I believe this mix of quality, originality, dedication and integrity to ensuring we support the British economy makes us stand out from others in the sector which sadly are often seen to bow down to pressures to supply mass produced, high profit pieces to the market.”
Kelly would also love to share a few sneak peeks of her new Maharaja Collection that is to be released very soon…
Thank you so much to Kelly for joining Team P and P and I really look forward to sharing the 2015 Collection very soon…
