Today I am thrilled to spotlight on the work of Camilla Carrington whose bridal headwear designs are the epitomy of elegance and a fashion statement in their own right.
Each traditional handcrafted piece is made with love and made in Britain, and amplifies the beauty of each Bride they adorn.
I hand over to Jane Nevins to tell you all about this blossoming Brand…
Who are you, and what do you do?
“Hello, I am Jayne but my bridal headwear company is called Camilla Carrington after my grandmother, simply because she inspired me and it is such a beautiful name.”
“I am a practising lawyer, dual qualified as a solicitor and barrister who has always harboured a desire to design and create beautiful things…even doodling designs whilst in court. However, I am not a stuffy old lawyer and have always dared to be different!”
When and why did you start your Company?
“I have always been artistic and consequently have been involved in design projects and art work over the years.”
“As a result of this I was asked if I would produce a bridal headpiece.”
“During this process I had what I call my ‘Eureka moment’.”
“Whilst immersed in Swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls and all manner of beautiful things I knew that bridal design was what I wanted to do.”
“I intend to leave the law to concentrate full time on bridal headwear in the near future.”
What inspires you?
“My inspiration for the Entwined Collection arose from childhood tales of fairies and sprites, in fact most of the pieces have been given names attributed to fairies such as Merrygold and Lillibelle.”
“I live in the Brecon Beacons National Park and the beautiful countryside is a huge source of inspiration.”
“The shapes found in nature such as the snowflake pattern in the Snowrose piece and leaves scattered on a woodland floor that inspired Karya are evidence of this.”
Do trends influence your work?
“Yes, the lace trend has influenced the delicate and intricate way in which many of the headpieces are made.”
“I also love vintage and think of my work as a fusion of vintage and contemporary design.”
“However, I am not that conscious of being motivated by trends, I just adore everything that is romantic, feminine, sparkly and gorgeous.”
“I hope to continue to create original designs and headpieces that are fashion statements in their own right.”
What is your greatest achievement?
“I started to sketch and design furiously after making my initial headpiece and before I knew it, I had designed a complete collection.”
“I am already full of ideas for the next collection, I just love the whole process from the initial idea to working with a bride to choose what she wants.”
What do you see as the future of your Company?
“I hope to find some fabulous stockists and for more and more brides to choose Camilla Carrington for their Bridal headwear.”
“I would also like to expand the bespoke service that is offered.”
“I have found that brides love to be involved in the design process for their wedding and I am happy to work with them to help them create their vision.”
“Brides also receive a signed sketch of the agreed bespoke design that they can save as a momento of their wedding.”
