Today I am thrilled to share an insight into the world of Krayonista, home of the creative alternative to the traditional Party Bag
Louise Gill and her sister, Sarah Conroy, set up Krayonista last year. Both had busy media careers before having children but had a desire to set up a creative business that enabled them to work more flexibly.
Thus Krayonista was born, inspired by a love of bold quirky design and a desire to offer a a more inspirational and sustainable alternative to the party bag.
Krayonista prints imaginative designs onto fair trade Eco cotton bags that can be coloured in and kept.
I spoke to the Krayonista team to find out all about them and find out about their invaluable contribution to the Wedding and party world.
Who are you, and what do you do?
We are two sisters, passionate about design and all things creative who decided to opt out of the rat race and do something for ourselves so we started Krayonista.
Why did you start Krayonista?
We both have young children and thought there was more to do with the party bag, something a little more inspirational and sustainable.
So Krayonista is about producing imaginative and quirky designs printed onto fair trade Eco cotton bags that can be coloured in and kept.
“The great thing about our bags”, said Louise, ‘Is not only are they a great craft activity but they make a perfect gift too and work equally well as party and wedding bag.
They are unique and really offer a great alternative to a lot of the disposable plastic stuff on the market.”
Both ethical and beautifully designed, Krayonista bags come with a pack of fabric crayons, once coloured in they can be made colour- fast with a quick iron and admired and treasured in equal measure.
You can buy them individually or in packs and the party and wedding bags can be adapted to include all sorts of special gifts to keep youngsters amused.
We have a unique and beautiful range of designs too which not only makes them a great gift but a beautiful idea for special events.
What inspires you?
Oh god, how much time do you have – apart from sourcing gorgeous designs from our bags, we love design in any form and have a bit of a soft spot for anything a bit quirky or different which you can see in our lovely new range of bags from the Illustrator, Lisa Evans.
We love anything a bit vintage or retro, we love bright popping colours and have a bit of a weakness for interiors, our Pinterest pages are full of them!
Are any of your designs trend led?
We started off with some simple designs that were (and still are) really popular with our young audience, butterflies, fairies and so forth but we also wanted to find something hand drawn and exclusively designed that would embody the quirky, fun, creativity that Krayonista represents so we approached Illustrator, Lisa Evans.
We love her slightly dream like, original character designs that tell a story and we thought her style would be perfect for our Wedding and Party bags, in particular we are loving Lisa’s new range for us, with the Wedding Cake Castle a particularly favourite
Whats your greatest achievement?
We’ve just been accepted as partner on Not on the High Street which is pretty exciting and are busy building our shop with them.
Our greatest achievement, next to our children and managing to stay sane through the early years of their lives (colouring in came in handy!) has been setting up Krayonista and seeing how much fun kids of all ages have with our bags.
What do you see as the future of Krayonista?
The future is to be the home of colouring in.
Krayonista’s new range is just the beginning.
The funny thing is that we started Krayonista as something for children and yet we have had so much interest from all age groups, there is something just so relaxing and enjoyable about colouring in that once you’ve got one person doing it, everyone wants a go.
If it all goes well we would really like to apply our designs to all sorts of medium, cards, tablecloths, you name it, basically make Krayonista the home of colouring in and re-introduce the world to the sheer fun of doing it.
Thanks to the girls for sharing their fantastic business, what a great product that is something really interesting to keep kids and adults alike amused and also provides a beautiful keepsake.
I particularly love the Wedding Cake Castle design, I would colour mine Rainbow…what about you ?
