Today I am delighted to introduce Top Drawer Divas and their Lingerie making Hen parties.
As 2014 is set to signal a recovery for marriage rates in the UK, a pair of lingerie entrepreneurs have masterminded a business concept based on hen party knicker-making and bespoke handicrafts.
Top Drawer Diva is the brainchild of Clare Booth and Vicki Williams, who each established successful careers at leading lingerie brand Panache, before launching their very own venture tapping into the growing trend for handmade.
Based in the Midlands, the duo have their hands full hosting hen parties and craft workshops across York, Leeds, Nottingham, Manchester and Lincolnshire, where they harness their years of expertise in lingerie-making to generate a personal and creative experience.
Lasting approximately two hours, each party presents hens with a number of trends in lingerie design – such as ‘Burlesque’, ‘Cute as a Cupcake’ and ‘Wild Child’, with inspiration on how to translate the themes onto a short, thong or bikini.
A fun hands-on briefing(!) shows guests how to add fabric and embellishments, before they are let loose on building their own bespoke creation.
Refreshments and a fun game of ‘knicker bingo’ with prize giveaways are also provided, along with a garter keepsake for the bride to be.
Vicki explains: “Some people think lingerie-making is pretty straightforward – but if you gave a seamstress a stretchy knicker fabric to fringe with lace, they’d soon realise that it’s no easy feat!”
“Thanks to our many years of experience in the industry, we’ve got the know-how to make it work, and the enthusiasm to make knicker-making a fun and entertaining option for a hen party, or even a girls night in.”
The venture has proved so successful that Top Drawer Divas have extended their offering to include classes on corsetry and bunting-making workshops, on offer from Spring 2014.
The divas have also been enlisted by local schools to deliver ‘school stitch club’ to help nurture the creativity of pupils aged 8 to 12 years old in Grimsby.
Clare added: “The demand among brides who are looking for personalisation to be at the heart of their big day is only increasing, and the great thing about knicker-making is that it is something that can be enjoyed whatever your age, from mothers and grans to twentysomethings and budding young designers.”
Hen parties and bunting-making are both available for groups of more than 10, and the parties can be hosted in hotels, at home, or in any sewing-friendly location.
Top Drawer Divas are also available for special commissions of bespoke, handmade lingerie and bridal accessories, such as garters.
Thanks so much to the girls for sharing their brilliant Lingerie making hen parties.
Its always fabulous to do something different set apart from the image of the boozy night out, so this is a brilliant and useful alternative activity.
