Today I am delighted to share the work of the lovely Polkadot Stationery who create design-led, modern wedding stationery for the style-savvy.
Polkadot is based in North East England but can send beautiful Wedding Stationery all over the world.
I spoke to owner Rebecca Owen about her paper pretty.
Who are you, and what do you do?
My name is Rebecca and I am a Graphic Designer with 6 years experience in the design industry.
Polkadot Stationery is my business – I started trading in September 2012 and haven’t looked back!
I started off creating greeting cards as well as wedding stationery but now just concentrate on weddings as there’s something exciting about working on a really beautiful invite for such an important event in someone’s life!
I love knowing that my designs will be remembered forever by couples across the UK!
When and why did you start your Company?
I decided to start up my own business after creating some wedding stationery for a friend.
I really enjoyed the whole creative process and getting to know the couple, what the liked, what they weren’t so keen on.
I’d created her 4 options to pick from and she chose her favourite for the wedding.
Afterwards I thought “I wonder what I can do with these other designs now”.
It seemed a waste for them not to be used so I opened a Folksy shop online to see if any other couples would be interested in having the design for their wedding.
It was very slow to begin with but things have picked a lot on recent months and I’m steadily growing.
What inspires you?
I love typography, it can inspire a whole range, so I especially love hunting new typefaces out that I can use.
I love Pinterest for inspiration around colour palettes.
I pinned a beautiful picture of some macaroons the other day with lilacs, purples and oranges which would look fab together on an invite and the colours used in my Pastel Chevrons range are from a picture of a cake I found on Pinterest too!
Do trends influence the products you stock/ service your provide?
Yes, definitely. What makes Polkadot Stationery different to other stationers is that I want to offer modern stationery that is trend-driven using my background as a graphic designer.
My products are not only design-led, but fuelled by the latest trends and fashions for those couples wanting something up-to-date and contemporary.
Because of this approach and the fact that colours come and go out of fashion, I offer free colour changes and wording alterations on all of my ranges.
I want couples to be able to have exactly what they want!
I also offer a bespoke design service where I can create a design from scratch. The more off the wall the better!
What is your greatest achievement?
One of my designs has been featured in Wedding magazine (Nov issue 2013), which I’m really proud about.
You always think it’ll never be you, but now it is!
I have also recently been accepted as a seller by Not On The Highstreet so am in the process of organising a photoshoot to give my product photos a bit of a re-vamp!
What do you see as the future of your Company?
I’d like the business to grow so that it becomes a fully functioning e-commerce business with hundreds of Wedding Stationery ranges for couples to choose from!
I’d love to have my own studio and team of people working to fulfil orders, create new ranges and most importantly, spread the love!

Thank you so much to Rebecca for sharing her designs with readers today.
I particularly love the Winter Botanicals Design. Its warm, its striking and it is beautiful without being over weddingy, and something the bold couple would love for their wintry Big Day.
