Owner Pauline Quigley originally made her creations from home in Glasgow.
Still based in Glasgow, business has evolved and the move has been made into fancy premises.
She is now joined by an amazing team of staff who love cake just as much as her.
I hand over to Pauline to share her story…
Who are you, and what do you do?
“My name is Pauline Quigley and I am the founder of Cake Cetera.”
“We send cake instead of flowers and cater for weddings and events too.”
When, and why did you start your Business?
“I was inspired to start the business after losing my mum to terminal brain cancer.”
“She was only 54 and managed to fight the disease for a year but we lost her in May 2011.”
“While mum was in hospital I was shocked to find that most flowers were banned from the wards.”
“I found that most people brought in cake instead…and so Cake Cetera was born in August 2011.”
“Our products range from Cake Push Pops, Cupcake Bouquets, Cake Push Pops, Macarons and Giant doughnuts.”
“We cater to a variety of special occasions from Weddings, Christenings, kids party, new baby, baby shower, as well as to Corporate Events.”
“We also provide seasonal products too, such as Christmas and Easter.”
What inspires you?
“My mum inspires me to work harder and not give up.”
“When you see someone fighting for their life it makes you want to do something so much better with yours.”
“It’s so difficult starting up a business and there has been lots of up and downs but she definitely keeps me focused.”
What is your greatest achievement?
“My greatest achievement so far was winning investment from the Scottish Edge Awards along with being nominated for Scottish New Business of the Year.”
“Opening newspapers and magazines to see my own wee products is such a great feeling too.”
What is the future for Cake Cetera?
“Our full range of cakes will be available to be sent nationally this month and we are so excited about this expansion.”
“Our biggest challenge has been perfecting packaging and we’re so glad we have been able to overcome this.”
“We want to add more unusual and tasty treats like our cupcake bouquets and cake push pops.”
“We want people to think ‘Send Flowers with Interflora. Send Cards with Moonpig, Send Cake with Cake Cetera!!”
