Sell My Wedding – Turn one bride ’s something old into another ’s something new.

Today I am delighted to turn my supplier focus on Rebecca Aspin of Sell my Wedding.

While many brides have followed the old fashioned saying, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue for centuries, a new website ‘Sell My Wedding ’ is helping turn one bride ’s something old into another ’s something new.

Sell my Wedding ’ is an online marketplace dedicated to the buying and selling of used or pre-loved wedding items where you can sell everything to do with the big day from the dress to dressing the reception.

The sellers simply pay a one off fee of £20 to list an unlimited number of wedding items, there are no individual listing fees, no sales commission and items won ’t expire until they have been sold.

Rebecca Aspin lives in Beverley East Yorkshire.  A Media and Communications Officer by day, she is mother to three year old William and runs Sell My Wedding in her spare time.

Rebecca, Founder of Sell My Wedding, explains: “As a newlywed myself I was looking for a way to share all the beautiful items and fabulous finds from my wedding with another bride.

Sell My Wedding puts newlyweds who are looking to recoup some of the cost of their big day in touch with brides-to-be who are not only looking for inspiration but a way to make their wedding affordable.

“Although the average cost of a wedding has fallen, it still tops £19,000 which is a staggering amount of money. In an age where people are more cost conscious and ethically aware brides and grooms are looking for ways to keep the cost of their wedding down. ”

Unlike other websites that specialise in selling second hand wedding dresses ‘Sell My Wedding ’ lists everything to do with weddings; from veils to vases and also features items for the whole wedding party from grooms, pageboys, ushers, bridesmaids to the mother-of-the bride.

The benefit for brides-to-be is that if they know what they are searching for they can search via an extensive category list or by theme; from traditional or vintage to seasonal.

Brought together under one website the aim is that brides will be able to find everything they need for their wedding and as everything is second hand or pre-loved, the beauty is that it will be at a fraction of the original cost.

There are over 400 registered buyers on the site and 160 sellers selling over 400 pre – loved wedding items.

Sellers that do really well on Sell My Wedding are those who list a number of items from their wedding and who take the time tell their story of their wedding on their profile page. We had one seller who sold her entire wedding within 24 hours to the same buyer.

Rebecca continued ‘ ’Reception decor particularly bunting, signs and paper lanterns are selling quickly as are centrepieces and vases.  Vintage crockery is also very popular alongside vintage props such as suitcases and old fashioned sweetie scoops.”

” We are just about to introduce an option so that our sellers can choose to either sell their items or hire them to another bride – this was following feedback from one of our sellers who couldn ’t bear to part with her beautiful Alice Temperley Wedding dress but who wanted to share the joy of the dress with another bride. ”

*Limited offer… It ’s currently half price – only £10 – for private sellers to sell their wedding items at Sell My Wedding.*

Businesses that specialise in second hand, pre-loved, handmade, hired, sample stock or vintage wedding items are also invited to list their items on Sell My Wedding. Charities can sell items for free.

I think this is a brilliant enterprise especially in this social climate, so I thank Rebecca for sharing her story today.

With the costs of  a wedding day mounting but not the capital to support it, the chance to create the look of the Wedding the couple wants but at a reduced price is always going to be a very attractive proposition.
