Speechy – Saving the World from boring Wedding Speeches

Today I am thrilled to spotlight on Speechy who make it their mission to save wedding speeches from clichés, templates and being blooming boring.

Delivering a speech can be a really intimidating process when you are not a confident speaker and the pressure to be funny whilst still sharing emotional heartfelt feelings can be intense.

Speechy are here to make the job a little easier.

I had a chat to Heidi to find out about this awesome new Brand…

Who are you, and what do you do?

“We are Speechy! A bunch of renegade TV scriptwriters who are on a mission to make wedding speeches a bit more blooming brilliant.”

“We think speeches deserve the same attention and salivating-over as the decorations and, dare we say, even the cake!”

“Our telly background means we know how to entertain an audience so we design speeches that kick-start the newlyweds union with a bang.”

“We work with Grooms, Best Men & Women and Brides to create unique and meaningful moments (previously known as speeches) and we rather love it!”

When and why did you start your Company?

“The Speechy team met when we were working in TV but realised we had something else in common; friends and family all abused our ability to write a great wedding speech.”

“We decided to give up writing for the likes of Richard Hammond, Sharon Osbourne, Dan Snow and Mel Giedroyc to launch Speechy because we realised there was a gap in the market and we wanted to re-establish speeches as a wedding highlight.”

“That and the fact we wanted to be our own boss and wear slippers all day.”

“We’ve been growing our fanbase since 2013 but of course the whole idea is that our service is confidential and the clients take credit for our work. We don’t mind. We’re nice like that.”

What inspires you ?

“The thing that inspires us most is… bad speeches.”

“We aim to rid the world of bland and boring speeches. We hate clichés, etiquette books and anything that seems like a cut and paste job.”

“We like nonsense, surprising people and speeches which genuinely reflect the couple that initiated them.”

“Our mantra is ‘Thou shalt not simply trot out thy usual shtick’ (though I think we probably stole that from someone clever).”

Do trends influence your work?

“We’ve actually just done a blog post on the Speech Trends for 2016.”

“Thankfully people aren’t feeling so constrained by tradition and etiquette.”

“We’re obviously seeing a lot more girls grabbing the mic and we love working on Brides’ speeches as well as joint Mr & Mrs Speeches (which work well as the couple share the accolades as well as the nerves!).”

What is your greatest achievement?

“It’s great to know our ideas are making weddings better.”

“It still gives us goosebumps when we hear the impact a Speechy speech has had on someone.”

“Most clients love the laughs we add to the day, whilst others value the romance.”

“One even said the speech was so poignant it was now ‘carved into their soul’. Soppy old things.”

What do you see as the future of your Company?

“We want to establish a new speech etiquette.”

“A cooler, more personal way of talking about love.”

“Even if people want to write their speech themselves, hopefully they’ll find value in our ideas and befriend us.”

“And remember the first rule of speeches is … there are no rules.”
