Today I am thrilled to spotlight on the work of Nottingham based The Sweet Stuff who create delicious custom made celebration cakes, wedding cakes, confections and dessert tables in all of your favourite flavours.
I hand over to owner of the blossoming Brand, Natasha Foster-Wilson…
Who are you, and what do you do?
“Hello, I am Natasha, I am based in Nottingham and I make cakes, sweets and treats that are as tasty as they are pretty.”
“Baking is light relief from my day job working with children in care which can be sometimes very challenging.”
When and why did you start your Company?
“I started making cupcakes a few years ago when they began to be all the rage here and home baking was on the rise.”
“I was then aspired to learn techniques, recipes and create not just cakes but a whole host of other sweets and confectionary; perfect for dessert tables and favours.”
“This year I decided that I wanted to extend my offering and create centrepiece cakes for weddings and really work on producing dessert tables for special events.”
“My efforts have certainly paid off so far and I’m really proud that I have achieved my goals so far.”
What inspires you?
“I started following blogs and using pinterest, those were my inspiration for both aesthetics and recipes.”
“What I see and eat when I’m out and about and travelling inspire me to create a meeting of minds and an end product.”
“I like girly, feminine, glamour. Pastels, shiny, sparkly, vintage but also understated, simple styles and design influence my work.”
“Party in your mouth’ flavours and twists on tradition that make you say ‘mmmmmm’ and ‘wow’ are what inspire.”
Do trends influence your work?
“Trends do influence my work – I mix what I love and trends in baked goods with what people want for their event and the memories they want to create.”
“I like to use new techniques and trends in cake decoration as well as traditional techniques and aesthetics too.”
What is your greatest achievement?
“Creating my first wedding cake, my first dessert table and my first set of wedding favours have all been very special and an honour.”
“Making people smile, hearing things like ‘oh my gosh, this looks and tastes amazing’ is my greatest achievement.”
“I don’t feel like I’ve done my job unless everyone is happy and belly satisfied!”
What do you see as the future of your Company?
“In the future, I hope to work in more stunning venues, with brilliant suppliers creating not just cakes but visions of dreams for newlyweds.”
“I would like to maybe do this on a full time basis too! I feel so fortunate to feel so supported by family, friends and other wedding professionals and I know that I cannot achieve my ambitions in solitude.”
“In 2015, I look forward to continuing my work and to developing my skills whilst working with other suppliers I have met on my journey so far.”
“I look forward to meeting more engaged couples and continue to be privileged to be part of their special days.”
Thank you so much to Natasha for sharing her lovely celebration cakes and gastronomic creations with us today.
I love a great slice of cake and these all look absolutely delicious.
